Did you know that athletic scholarships weren't always around? Somewhere along the line there was enough outrage about a "lack of entitlement" to the point where scholarships were introduced. But yes, way more f'd up now than ever...

I know each generation has made this comment, but it is even worse now. The parents have the same feelings that their child is entitled and should just be given whatever they want. Dealing with parents in my job as an AD and coach is probably the most frustrating aspect...parents are clueless and the kids fall in line with the craziness of their parents!

It is societal...it is easy to say 'kids these days', but IMO it all starts at home. Parents are ruining sports at ALL levels!

I'm not going to wax poetic about times past. I suggest that they start by breaking out the Wahl clippers in the locker room. Everyone looks the same, just like boot camp. This becomes the start of the "we" instead of "me" mentality. Start by taking away their individualism and progress from there. If they don't fall in, then they're a cancer that needs to be cut out of the team.

There's no excuse for players laughing and joking on our own sideline when we're getting blown out of a game. That's a sick culture that has been allowed to develop, and it goes against everything that a successful DONU has represented.

 
I know when I was playing, if someone was not giving it his all, the Oklahoma drill was called. Everyone hated them, and the person that caused them to happen got his ARSE whooped. He never got out of the drill until he couldn't get up. If you don't want to give 100% each and every play, go play Basketball.
