WOAH - Righthaven copyright lawsuit

Yes, it is a LOT ridiculous. Righthaven (suing for copyright infringement) is grandstanding here, just using scare tactics. Instead of caving in, I'd like to see the defendant shop this action around to law firms and find some big firm that would handle it pro bono. It could end up costing the plaintiff tens of thou$ands, and never collecting a dime (or collecting very little).

btw, a quick Googley on this reveals these copyright statutes that appear to apply: LINK. The $150k amount is the max statutory damages.

The bottom of the article in the OP states that the only case to have a definitive ruling was tossed out of court. Everything else either settled or is pending.

Fair Use laws allow for use of parts of an article or column in a discussion or for criticism of the work.
