Huskers sign Arizona football recruit

Nebraska on Saturday attracted the first of what the Huskers hope becomes a string of oral commitments from football recruits visiting campus this weekend.

Eric Hagg, a high school wide receiver/defensive back from Peoria, Ariz., became the 18th player to pledge to Nebraska’s 2007 recruiting class, according to two recruiting Internet sites.

Hagg is ranked as a three-star prospect (on a scale of five) by both Scout.com and Rivals.com. He couldn’t be reached for comment Saturday, as he was in the midst of his campus visit.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Hagg was one of 10 recruits on hand for Nebraska’s 37-14 triumph against Colorado on Friday at Memorial Stadium, a victory that capped the Huskers’ regular season.

According to Scout.com, Hagg is regarded as a Division I-A prospect as both a wide receiver and defensive back. He has said he prefers to play receiver.

He reportedly has received scholarship offers from Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Oregon State, Utah and Fresno State.

Hagg is one of three Arizona players visiting Nebraska this weekend. The others are four-star offensive guard Jaivorio Burkes of Phoenix and multi-position athlete Prince Amukamara of Glendale.
