Huskers nab Dripping Springs'Kitzul

Dripping Springs senior wide receiver Patrick Kitzul has accepted an invitation to join the Nebraska football team as a walk-on.

Kitzul said he likely would be redshirted this season. He plans to study business administration.

"(Huskers coaches) said they really like me as a receiver and I'd get an honest shot to play for Nebraska," Kitzul said. "They've got a real storied walk-on program, and nine of 11 offensive starters in the Alamo Bowl (in December) were walk-ons, they told me. That's all I could ever ask for. The rest is up to me."

hello, that is great news that NU grapped another tx walk-on - who will hopefully contribute as mulkey has after walking on at NU from tx, but his quote has thrown me a little, in which he stated that 9 of 11 off. starters in the alamo bowl were walk ons:

to my knowledge I believe koch & slauson were the only 2 former walk on candidates to start, & kelly & mulkey the only other walk-ons to play offensively -

right?

I believe he meant 9 of 11 on the kick off team. I believe 9 of them were walk ons.

I think the kid wanted to say 9 of the 11 starters on the kickoff team were walk-ons or from the state of Nebraska

I hope he can contribute one way or another. However, with our depth at wide receiver (it's been a while since I've been able to say that), I can't help but think we'll utilize his talents elsewhere.
