you guys have a helluva team

I think you guys have far and away the best defense in the country, bar none.

We were extremely lucky to squeak this one out.

I sincerely hope Nebraska owns the north from now on as it should be.

With Pellini doing such as excellent job I have no doubt you'll pick up a couple of great offensive players. That is the only thing I see standing in your way from being a national championship contender again.

Thanks, man...

Your guys did just enough. We do need some more pieces to complete the puzzle.

Next year's game should be good.

No - you will be seeing the best defense in the country on Jan. 7. Good luck...you'll need it.

I thought you guys had the game when Gomes made that awesome pocketpick interception near the end when we were finally putting a drive together.

There is a hornfans thread on a certain Greg McElroy, the north Texas born Alabama quarterback who no one in the Big 12 wanted. If you guys would have had him, clearly the roles would have been reversed, not just in this game, but bowl destinations as well I think.

Thanks for the encouragement. We have a few pieces yet, but we'll get there.

I've watched Alabama play several games this year, and actually I do think that we've got the best defense in the country. If any other defense, including Alabama's, had to spend as much time on the field as this one, their statistics would be far worse. That big, slow-moving sloth that they've got in the middle would probably go down with a heart attack. I'll go on record right here and now by saying that you're going to put more yards and points up on Alabama than you did on us. You're actually going to catch the Alabama defense here and there with a big play. Whether you win or not is going to depend on just how good your defense really is. You weren't tested last night, so don't read anything into the stats. We've made mediocre defenses look stellar this year.

Good luck! Do our conference proud!

Thanks. Clearly the media doesn't think so. FoxSports says Longhorns have the #1 run defense in the country. However...

Colt McCoy 17 rushes for -20 yards

Newton 19 rushes for 36 yards

Johnson 1 rush for 2 yards

Nebraska held Texas to 18 yards rushing total!!!

and yet on the other side of the ball, we ran for 70 yards.

I give Texas Defense credit, but saying they are the number #1 defense in the country just because they won the Big 12 CHampionship and are going to Pasadena and by saying that the media is trying to hype up the Texas Defense as capable of handling Mark Ingram?!

They must be out of their mind, Nebraska has the #1 run defense in the country. No doubt about it.

Go Alabama, Go Huskers. See you October 16th, 2010 Mack Brown.

As for Colt McCoy...

Good luck playing for the Detriot Lions.

Not disputing that NU has a better rush d than us, but our rush O has stunk out loud the past 2 years.

But we've usually had good pass blocking and that was non existent last night. Our o line should be great but the fact is they sucked against good defenses (NU and OU).

Your D is better than OU in that it holds up strong late in the game whereas they gas out.

I'm thinking Alabama's d doesn't have as good a pass rush nor as good a secondary, but they have a very fine MLB. And they have a very good offense. We'll have to play a complete game to hang with them, something we haven't done all year.
