I'm sorry but I'm sure McBride said some things about OU fans. I can't imagine Bob D. never calling anyone curse words. :wacko: Remeber "Super" Bo chasing Snyder and calling him every name in the book? Once again a stretch on your part. I might give you the rest of your argument but not this part.

This may be opening a huge can of worms, but what should we do? Even if FF is right about our coaching staff and AD, (which i don't think he is), do we all just abandon all hope? continually bash the current coaches? continually lament the downfall of our beloved program?

I believe there's a reason the Nebraska fans are the greatest of any sports team in any league in the entire nation. That reason is our unshakeable loyalty to the program. No matter who's at the helm we support them because they are the leaders of the program we love. IMHO the worst thing that's happened to the program the last few years is not the end of the bowl streak, the losing season, or the loss of talent. It's the lower level some of the fans have dropped to.

I like winning as much as the next guy, and i especially hate losing to the likes of CU and KSU. But when our starting qb has to change his home number b/c of hateful phone calls, we bash the character and integrity of our coaches based on 1 year's win/loss record, and we throw our hands up in the air and disown a program we loved for decades based on 1-2 tough years we're not a proud part of our tradition, we're an embarrassment.

So for me, even if i disagreed with some of the events of the last year or the last 5 years, I'll support the program b/c that's what "Husker Nation" has always done. I'll be optimistic and I'll trust that if the program can take some positive steps each year that things will, in time, be where we want them. I'll continue to be proud of the fact that our team isn't built on criminals and our kids are getting an education. IMHO that's what our responsibility is as the greatest fans in the nation.

So forgive me for not taking the end of our streaks as the HUGE DEAL i should. I guess i'm not as concerned about being able to talk smack with some dude in the visitor's section and more concerned about always supporting the team, even if I sometimes disagree with who's at the helm, and the results aren't what I think they should be. If I gave up on my team b/c we weren't winning as often as I wanted to then I wouldn't be part of any tradition, I'd just be a fairweather chump. Cheesy i know, but still something i feel should be considered.

Just out of curiousity since ive been here less then a week and see that your attitude on here is poor, why do you even hang around husker boards? It's obvious you are not a Husker fan.

My attitude is poor, why, because I think that these coaches have no idea what they are doing (as they have shown), that the AD is a liar and a con-man, and that this is NOT the staff that will lead this once-great program to the promised land?? I have a poor attitude and I am not a fan because I DONT agree with you?? I that what you are saying???

That bowl streak was HUGE, one of the greatest, not in the history of college football, but in the history of ALL sports. And for billy c. to just say "Its just one game, one season" showed me just how little he really cares about NU, its program, and its tradition. IMO, any REAL HUSKER FAN should have been calling for his head after he caused that streak to end, and he really didnt give a crap. But no, people who consider themselves "Husker Fans" were apathetic to the situtation, and frankly didnt care, yet they consider themselves "True fans."

I HATE seeing the program that I loved for so long being ridiculed and destroyed by a handful of self-serving ego maniacs, but I guess a REAL HUSKER FAN would just sit back and take it. Right?????????????

That's a sad sad way of looking at things. Your knowledge of history is even more sad. What goes up must eventually come down. That's the basic lesson you get taught in school when you learn history. You did go to high school and finish right? Who are we? You make Nebraska out to be some team that is untouchable and whats worse, you are so convinced of that, you are blinded by it. There has not been 1 DIV-A team in the last 40 years that has NOT had 1 losing season and been blown out and eventually recovered. If you can provide proof of ANY team in the last 40 yers that has never had a losing season, i will bow down to you.

What? What is it about Nebraska that makes you think we would have been on top of the college world forever? If you actually think that we were never going to have a losing season or get blown out by a few times, then you my friend have no clue what college football is all about. 1 losing season, big deal, im not about ready to start parading in the streets, holding a pitchfork and asking for a guys head who has only had 1 season to install an offense. I would rather have a 1-10 season then go through a 5-6, 4-8, 3-8, 5-5-1, 6-6, 5-4-2 season likes OU did during the 90's. Remember Butch davis? Yeah, that Butch davis, the one who won a National title in 2001. He's the same coach at Miami who got blown out by Syracuse 66-13 2 years prior to that. You kow who Southern Cal is right? The team that has won back to back national titles the last 2 years. Look up Pete Carrolls record his first year and look at him 3 years later.

Your attitude is poor because you are ready to execute these coaches without even at least giving them 3 years minimum before you start criticizing them. Bob stoops was never a head coach and look at him now. Pete Caroll was a washed out NFl coach who no one would take a risk on and look at him now. So what's it going to be? We hired a NFL coach who was fired but you b!^@h and moan about it. If we hired a guy with no head coaching experience, you would have bitched about that TOO. You would have said "you fired frank for this guy?".

The sad thing is, EVERYONE in the Big12 knows our talent was garbage the last 4 recruiting classes prior to this class except you. You live in an imaginary world that Frank was somehow bringing in some of the best talent in the nation. I SUPPORT cutting out walk on program because it was doing more harm then benefiting us. I gurantee you that Frank Solich will NEVER be able to land a 5 star, let alone a 4 star prospect at Ohio. Willing to put a 100 dollars on that bet if you are man enough?

I wonder how you would react if you just got hired to do something and someone started complaining about you to EVERYONE at work the same day you got hired without even giving you a chance. You can continue to whine and b!^@h and moan about the current situation but it's not going to matter. You know why? Because only people who have so much hate inside them are the only ones feeling it. I am sure Callahan could care less what you think of him. Same for the other coaches.

DaveH edit: Sorry bud, that stuff doesn't fly here. I have NEVER seen anyone so obssesed with a former coach like you are with Frank Solich. Your love and admiration for him is just plain creepy and scarey. I respect frank and everything he has done for NU and wish him luck, but with you, it's like "dagnabit"

Been sayin that for a while now. When my mom died that was a big deal. NU didnt go to a bowl game did not make me shed one tear. I was disappointed but not with all this great wailing and gnashing of teeth. Damn, a logical perspective on things is needed. I love NU football and they will be great again.

wow, i have been wanting to say that for a long time. Thank you for giving all of us out there hope nameless, because that is what sports fans need more than anything else. There is no team or program in any sport anywhere in the world that has not suffered setbacks, and almost all of them have had a man in charge who lived through the setback and led them back to greatness. Besides, Im not a husker fan because we win everytime. Im a husker fan because I believe in something greater than the game, that the huskers stand for somthing more than a W. Husker football gives alot of guys that otherwise would not have a shot of going to college a chance to do so, and in the process learn to become good people, and maybe even make a difference, as many huskers have gone on to do. You can say that Callahan is a bad football coach, and in that you are entitled to your opinion, but if you want to say he is a bad person, than Im sorry to say that you are not only an idiot, but that you are absolutely clueless as to what is going on. I suggest that you go and look at BillCallahan.com, and see what the man is really about before you state any lofty opinions about Callahan's worth as a human being and a Nebraska football coach.
