Does anyone else hate when your sitting in line and someone just squeezes right in without asking? On my way home from work, I stopped at a stop light that has two lanes on one side and goes to 1 lane shortly after. Anyways people always get in the merge lane on red lights, and then merge in without using a blinker or waving when you let them in. It fires me up every time. Doesn't help non use of blinkers is my pet peeve.

I have no choice but deal with one of those intersections on my work to work. I have no problem with getting as many cars through the light, then merging, but don't be a d!(k about it, use your blinker.
Why is the courtesy wave dead? If I let you in, just give a wave, that's all I ask.

If I'm driving a car I always make sure to not leave enough space to merge for drivers who do that. The unnecessary merging it causes disrupts optimum traffic flow and well, I guess in my own head they won't stop unless people quit being nice and they are forced to drive off the road, or stop and do the merge of shame with a long line of traffic going by.

To play devil's advocate, who says that maybe some of those people are in an emergency situation where they need to get to their destination very quickly? A while ago, I was quite ticked off at a guy who was zooming from lane to lane in what I thought was unnecessary merging. Then he turned into the ER at the hospital.
That's an extreme example, but you just never know what's going on in the heads of other drivers. I let people in now, but I still have a problem if they don't signal. Use your signal and I'll let you in with no problem. I always leave a space in front of me, because people tend to ride their brakes and I never realize how hard they're actually braking until I see them at a standstill.

If the person is having an emergency, the standard practice is to use your hazard lights. That lets people know your not driving according to normal driving standards.

interstate construction zones piss me off. They give you ample warning about a lane closure. Right lane closed 1 mile, right lane closed .5 miles, lane closed-merge now and still the a-holes speed on until right before the baracade then force a merge by making you choose if you're going to rear end them or let them in. Slow people in the left lane and people who speed up for yellow lights also torque me off.

Yeah, it sort of pisses me off if I've waited in line for several minutes and some other guy drives to the front of the line and expects to butt into the front. I usually don't let them in. I give my best "death stare face" when they look bewildered when I don't let them in. :lol:

Here's my thing, most of us spend a lot of time behind the wheel and drive on a daily basis, yet it would seem very few people think about optimum driving time and analyzing the traffic situation more than one car ahead. Weaving around and cutting up through a lane that merges doesn't save time in the big picture. Even if you have an emergency, turning your flashers on and driving like a maniac won't get you there much faster, and if you are stopped by the police, too bad, you will still get a full examination of documents and a ticket...if it's not an excuse doctors can get away with, neither can you unless there's a body in the car.
It is annoying how much lower licensing standards are in the US compared to say, Germany...all it does is engender poor technical skills and bad habits that stay with people their whole life, and causes far more accidents, injuries, and loss of life than need be. Not to mention traffic flows worse even when the infrastructure is designed for higher capacity.

When you are driving and all of a sudden you realize you must merge, you put on your blinker and do everything necessary to get over a lane....BUT....people don't let you in. They will actually speed up to make sure you don't get in front of them.
If you are driving in say New Jersey or New York, people realize you must merge and they also realize that if you keep all traffic going in all lanes then everyone gets to where they need to go. So, they will let you in.
Not here. It's like a race and screw you if you are going to get in front of me.

In Oklahoma, it's standard practice to merge onto an interstate doing 50 mph while the rest of the interstate traffic is travelling at 70-75. Pisses me off to no freaking end when I'm behind one of these jack-wagonistic d!(k-wads doing 50 mph while trying to merge on the interstate.

Other things that piss me off driving..
When there are two turn lanes, you can not change lanes mid turn, stay in your F'in lane! Council Tucky is the worst place I have ever seen for this one.
People who just about come to a complete stop to make a right turn.
Old people slowing down whenever they come to a intersection.
Trucks with nice big full beds of crap that are not properly secured/tarped. I don't want to have to worry about crap flying off your truck and hitting my car.
Also, the left lane is not the "drive as fast as you possibly can" lane. When the cop pulls you(no one in particular, just the dude driving) over for it, go ahead plead you case "But I wasn't speeding, I was in the left lane" see how well that goes over.

The turn lane thing about f'd me over a few weeks ago. It was at the new round about in Lincoln, but same concept. I just wanted to give it a go and see how it was, probably not a great idea at night but whatever. Went all the way through it and caught a truck about half way, he was center lane I was in the inner most lane. Coming out I was just pulling up on his trailer and without signalling he decides he's going to take the exit wide and switch into the left lane on top of me. Thank god my Camaro has some good brakes on her.
