Halftime Observations

  • Damion Stafford plays like a Blackshirt should. This dude can hit!
  • Quincy Enunwa is a beast! He is one of the most physically dominating Wide Receivers that Nebraska has had in a very long time.
  • Get Burkhead healthy, and Nebraska will have a lethal 4 counter punch running game with (Martinez, Burkhead, Abdullah, and Heard).
  • Nebraska's defense has played better this week, however Arkansas State helped us out a lot with dropped passes, and penalties.
  • Nebraska's offensive line is a strength of this team. I know there are a lot of people who have been frustrated with Barney Cotton, but his boys are playing well. If Nebraska sticks to this power running game...these boys can block! Keep an eye on Spencer Long, Choi, and Qvale.

Question to ponder over:

  1. Can Nebraska establish a power running game if it doesn't have a lead?
I think it is too early to say that at this point. Abdullah was having to make a lot of moves in the backfield just to not lose yards. I can think of two different times on the last drive. I think the offense could be a strength eventually this year, but not yet :dunno

They have been playing better lately. I'll give them/him that.

Can Nebraska establish a power running game if it doesn't have a lead?

No. Beck will try to force the passing game. See: UCLA. Until Beck calls plays that work and forces the opponent defense to stop that play, I'll be critical of his play calling. I don't what "they see". If it's working, stick with it until the other team has an answer

Questions to ponder over:

2. Where has Imani Cross gone? I'm dumbfounded.
Can we afford to take Abdullah off the field ?
I'd just like to see him get a few touches. 11 carries for 70 yards in our first game. NONE in our second. I just don't get it.

I LOVE having Ameer but I'd like to see some more balance. I felt like last week we rode him and rode him and he might have got tired. Late fumble deep in our territory hurt bad.

He was rarely used late in the UCLA game.... Beck called a lot of pass plays (Have we discussed that during the last week)?

I'm at the game. Bo definitely isn't suffering from heat exhaustion, it's like 65 or 70 degrees out here.

On a side note abdullah/enunwa/stafford is a damn beast

I hope we see more Imani Cross in the second half. Ameer has carried the load, but we need to use this lead to establish depth at all positions and maybe find some playmakers that haven't been playing.

The D-Line has been playing better today but I (like the rest of you) would like to see them line up at the LOS and just wreak havoc in the backfield.

The defense as a whole has been playing well today for the most part. Not great, but I am seeing improvement, so I'm pleased.
