First Half MVP

MVP- Ameer

Honorable mention- TM, Ciante & Caveman.

Still too many individual positions not contributing enough to give full units high credit. As much as I would like to give the whole offense props, particularly the O line, I just can't after the total breakdown at left tackle that was the root cause of some of the tOSU turnovers. Plenty of room for improvement for most everybody. Hope we begin seeing it consistently starting with Northwestern.

This is just it. It isn't that the OL is poor as a group. They just have an individual or two that isn't playing up to par. If they were all bad, no way does Burkhead break some of the runs he has. Our TE's have played pretty decent even though they haven't been as involved in the passing plays as some would want. I don't think we're as far off as some would have us believe. However, as groupings there are definitely a few individuals who haven't played very well to date.

Most Valuable Player - Ameer and Bell

Honorable mention - TMart, Martin & all DB's

Potential improvement - Turner

Most Vulnerable Player - All LB's and with the exception of Martin, DL's

Not qualified - Rex

Oh god, halfway through already????

Offense MVP - Justin Jackson - Was a no name to start the year & has been really good.

Defense MVP - Baker Steinkuhler - He has has had a solid first half of the season in on a very weak line. I think his play is sometimes over looked by fans because they expect him to be Suh.

FR MVP - Andy Janovich - He has been nothing short of amazing. He beat out a 3 year starter & a Alabama transfer who most though was going to be a really good FB.

Justin Jackson has been in the race for the starting position since the beginning of Spring drills. I also do think he is over looked, and wrongfully categorized as part of the sloppiness on the Oline.

I would never thought, or believed Steinkuhler could be categorized in the section as Suh. Who I believe will be the future wrecking ball for the Blackshirt defense, is Vincent Valentine. I think Williams and Rome are better than Steinkuhler, but due to Williams not being 100%, or close to, its really effecting his ability to do the damage some of know he is capable of doing. Same said with Todd Peat Jr.

I would also say that Janovich is freshman MVP. Walk on, and make the impact he has, is just wonderful. I don't think he is a starter though, is he? Thought Marrow was still "the guy".

I would go with a 3-way tie: TM, Abdullah, Bell

You gotta love the young talent on the offensive side of the ball. If only we had a defense to go along with it...

Taylor Martinez....

Refuse to hand out a defensive MVP yet
Because not one person on defense deserves it? How about our DBs? I mean, last I knew, we were ranked 13th in the nation. Josh Mitchell was going to be my second choice over Martin.
I like Josh Mitchell, but he has been absolutely owned during B1G play so far. Every down-field pass that Wisconsin completed was Stave chucking it toward whatever receiver was being defended by Josh Mitchell.

Its because of his size. The kid doesn't really miss tackles, and he plays with 100% out there on every down. You can probably make that statement about all of our DB's actually, not the size part though lol.
