What has changed with the D

Eric Martin has Been unleashed.

David santos lightswitch went off.

Offenses where fisher and Whaley can excel.

Baker been playing well, as he has most of season

Secondary is gelled and dialed in.

Cam moves inside some snaps, seems to be a good fit for him.

There are a lot reasons our D is playing well
Evans can now lock down the other teams best player himself.

Michigan was a fountain of offense when DRob was in, right? They were rolling us so bad, scoring so many points, etc. ******* they were awesome with DRob in and our defense was terrible..........period....dot...

Bo is obviously losing this team considering they played better against Michigan. It's a conspiracy. He orchestrated the entire thing to make the defense look better so he wouldn't lose his job. He's lost the team. That backup QB was in on it, that's why he played so bad.

WHERE'S MY TINFOIL HAT??

I like our defense vs. the rest of our opponents. We're getting into the part of the schedule where we'll mostly be seeing "traditional" Big Ten offenses. If the Wisconsin game is any indication, we'll match up nicely. The offense just needs to limit mistakes and we'll be fine.

Pffft.....poor qb play alone should not be misinterpreted. Ok flame away :) ---- but as happy as we are, some of you know deep down its the gospel truth
The gospel truth is that players getting hurt in a game is just part of the game and deep down you know it. I know your type. If Martinez would have got hurt in the 2nd quarter. You wouldn't be making any excuses as to why Nebraska lost. I don't understand why so many people have to justify or qualify a win.
No no no - I am super thrilled with the win no matter how it played out. I feel we would have won even if DR stayed in and was healthy. So it's not needed to toss me into that type of crowd.

Hope that helps.

Oh, and does anyone think Meredith looks a lot more effective when lining up at defensive tackle? Give me him over Rome, Randle, whoever else we've been trotting out there, any day.

I dont know what it is about him, and not necassarily the DT part, but seems to have a bit more fire in his step the last couple games.

Whatever the changes were, scheme, personnel, limiting calls, better fundamentals etc, it is evident that after the OSU game, we are a completely different D.

I just hope that the guys really stay focused. Saw another article where the writer stated that after the Michicken game, none of the players were really smiling. Just focused. Checking this game off the list and moving on to the next.
Read Sam Mckeon's article. There is already a thread going. BP has a great scheme. It just takes a long time to grasp. That is the problem. Once the DB really get the coverage down it allows the front 7 to play more aggesive.
I agree with article. If the secondary is sound , then the front 7 can play without being so tentative. Make them beat us with the pass. I'll be a believer if we put together a good defensive effort against lowly MSU's offensive. Third time is a charm to start drinking the kool-aid again! Why did it take until now to see the progress?

Denard wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire early in the game. Now if you want to reference the fact that Michigan has a poor offensive coordinator... you'd have an argument.

One major thing has helped: tackling has improved 100%.
Agree on this!! Didnt see near as many guys getting extra yards after 1st contact. Makes a huge difference IMO.

Also like Meredith more on the inside, and Martin has been great.Santos and some of tthe other young guys playing well too.

This.

As potentially horrifying as the Northwestern game was, the defense looked vastly improved. They gave up huge gains on the seams, but when contact was made they were sticking their man in a way they hadn't the past two seasons. Not just one or two guys, but everybody. Actually the improvement showed up at Ohio State where they had a great first quarter against Braxton Miller but weren't fast enough on the containment. Against Michigan they kept their foot on their throat and felt no pity for the Freshman qb. Great surges and great tackling. And Denard only got Michigan 6 points in two quarters. Happy to give props when they're due. This is something to build on. Which is pretty much what I said after last year's MSU game.

Let's not forget the big ten is not considered a "speed" league either.

Freshman qb instead of shoelaces

A missed FG

Idaho st

Braxton miller......granted our def has improved but I'm still having doubts. As we still have issues with mobile QB.
