Five-Star Recruit
All this talk about the Halloween Massacre reminded me of a Halloween game in 1964. The Huskers beat Mizzou 9-0. But the night before, my friend Jay and I had a genius idea. We went trick or treating on Friday night. We wore some Husker gear and glumly walked up to houses and rang the doorbell.
The people who answered the door were pretty confused. Halloween was Saturday not Friday we were told over and over again. We explained that our parents were going to the Husker game (true), and wouldn't let us go trick or treating on Saturday (not true). We got lots of sympathy and a pillow case of candy!
The next night we went out again (my grandparents escorting us) in full costume, so we wouldn't be recognized, and filled another sack with candy.
Best Halloween EVER!
