Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez was named the Big Ten’s offensive player of week after he guided the Huskers on two fourth-quarter scoring drives, erasing a 10-point deficit in the final frame for a 28-24 victory over Michigan State on Saturday. He also ran for 205 yards, the seventh 200-yard rushing performance in the Big Ten this season, and touchdown runs of 35 and 71 yards and passed for 160 yards, resulting in 365 yards of total offense, and two touchdowns, including the game winner with six seconds remaining.

Congrats young man.

Isn't this the 4th time this year he has received this award? Gosh, what a terrible player. How have we not benched him yet?

Crazy to think that Taylor has been named the B1G Ten Player of the Week 4 times this year (plus one last year). Braxton Miller has ONE ever, and he is talked of as a Heisman candidate and the best player in the B1G. I am not saying I disagree, just dumbfounding. Taylor is great, and he could be even better.

Congrats Taylor! We're lucky to have you.

This may not be a good thing if we are relying too much on Taylor. Look at how much OSU leans on Braxton. Their backup stepped up in the game that Braxton was sent to the hospital but it's not comfortable for OSU when this happens. I believe Bo & Beck have done a good job keeping Taylor safe and distributing the load. At the same time they aren't afraid to use him when the defense neglects him like MSU did.

Congratulations T-magic! Now get to work on improving your rollout passing :)

I cringe EVERY TIME we run that designed rollout.

I don't think we're relying too heavily on him at all. I think he has learned to pick his spots much better and no longer forces things as much. We have a great stable of RB and talent all over the place on offense. I wouldn't compare Taylor's performances with the way OSU relies on Braxton.

Given Taylor's performance against MSU, PSU is going to key on him big time. If he can rollout and present himself as a running threat we can torch them on some big passes. I'd like to see Taylor settle down before passing on the rollout and be more accurate.

Didn't mean to make it seem like I was putting words in your mouth. I was just pointing out that relying too much on Taylor's running is dangerous.

Aren't you suppose to rely on your QB? Your QB IS your offense. There is a difference between ALWAYS relying on your QB to use his legs, like they do with Robinson and Miller. We don't force Taylor to run and take a lot of hits. I will pass on Taylor rolling out and passing.

I like bootlegs roll outs with the option to run/pass. The key is not to throw unless your going forward with your shoulders parallel to the LOS. I was afraid that Taylor was a bit deep on that boot but he does have some jets. I have accused Tmart of running like a little girl sometimes. (They say it better on tv - run behind your pads.) That's because sometimes he hesitates running into contact and with an upright posture which is not good for his health. He certainly knows what to do when he sees daylight though. Good for him & well done.

Hell yeah! MSU's D coordinator complimented Taylor by saying he's faster than Dennard. He pretty much condescended DRob and gave props to Taylor for his speed. It was a nice compliment for a NEB QB who had a clutch win.

Congrats to Taylor on this honor and the win! He certainly deserves it, and I'm glad to say I was wrong about the kid long ago.

And just think...if he's improved this much from last year to this year, imagine how much better he'll be next season! :)
