Head Coach Salaries in the B1G

Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern: $1.26 million
Fitzgerald might be the best bargain in the B1G Ten---maybe one of the best bargains in the nation. It's practically a miracle that he has NW at 8-3. (To use GSG's $$/win measurement, that's only $157k per win.)

I remember outside regent meeting room, half of dozen hippie type guys protest Tom Osborne 200K salary by handing out leaflets and one 3' by 3' sign. Pretty calm protest (I heard) but eventually broken up by campus policewoman. The date was 1983 or so. 400K now days (adjust inflation).

You can do this? I thought when your team loses you're supposed to go nuts on message boards saying that the head coach has lost the team, the OC is a joke, bash the starting QB, and say the whole season is lost and the team will be lucky to win 1 more game and won't make it to a bowl game. :sarcasm
Yes, but it would actually make sense if Iowa fans reacted this way. Go figure.

The Iowa fan I know is the world's biggest homer. He looks me square in the eyes and tells me Iowa's gonna beat NU by three touchdowns, and their rock-solid defense could shut down Oregon and they could score 30 on Alabama.
