Something we're forgetting..

This is our first two years in the B1G , we've had a brutal schedule. Our record could be a hell of a lot worse, but those loses we're suffered were brutal...

Next year, the schedule is more "manageable", and there's a pretty good chance, that they could find their way back to the B1G title game. Although we lose some winnable games, the sh*tstorm you see know will be a drop in the bucket to what it could be next year..

I've wondered the same thing. Thanks for putting it in words. There are obviously some faults that need to be corrected, both with the player quality and coaching abilities, but I'd not heard much about this angle. If our talent is truly bad, then that six game win stretch might have been more heroic than we imagined.

I think next year might be the most important of Bo's tenure. It'll be the 3rd year in the B1G, the most manageable schedule yet, T-Mart as a senior, and Abdullah & Kenny Bell with another year of experience under their belt.

You apparently missed what I was getting at. The reason it's the most important part of his tenure here, with all those factors, if they have a crap season, they'll be hard pressed to have a reason not to fire him...

Hedley, Beck is a beast on this staff and there are no regrets from me on his promotion, and I am Shawn Watson's biggest fan.

Beck is still learning to be an OC. He has tons of potential and promise. He is also our best recruiter. Problem is Bo doesn't put emphasis on his coordinators recruiting. Also doesn't help that you have terrible OL coaching to try to help..

Just really upset about this.

I expected us to get beat, but I did not ever expect what happened. I drove from Californian to watch Texas Tech do the same thing to us. There is no excuse for it. Not much different than before with BC.

Just hire someone that can help, DC or OC, that is tough as nails and will stand up to him when he is wrong. Too many yes men/friends that he gave a start. It is costing us big time and there really is no reversal that I can see. Poor coaching, poor performances, poor recruiting and a total lack of killer instinct on the team. We really can not afford another year of this. Our recruiting, #30 or worse will drop drastically after the Georgia game if it is the same. Who could have faith that the coach knows what he is doing after three blow out losses this year.

Georgia may not want to play us, I have never understood that, but who knows we sh#t the bed against Washington and Wisconsin so who knows. But Wisconsin was not a lack of wanting to play them I do not think. We can pray Georgia drops the ball. But I highly doubt it.

It is very simple, and it will continue. We do not have a top level coach, nor assistants. Bring in quality assitants or find ourselves falling farther and farther behind.

You can call Wisconsin average due to their results, but they were within a few points every game. What do you call us with 10 wins and at least four were questionable. I say we are lucky to have what we have and Wisconsin was unlucky to be where they were. But we can all agree they were a hell of lot better than average when we played them last Saturday. Or is the coaching defiencency so bad it is beyond belief. I never thought Bo would get blown out like that, lose big, but to have no answer for very very basic offensive plays was beyond belief for me.

We need people on the field that know what they are doing, currently we do not have a single coach that has a knats a$$ of experience compared to other top programs. Not because they left, but because we hired them. No job qualifications to speak of for this level of a job, just a friend. Friends in business very seldom works out. For those that really have no clue, this is BIG BUSINESS! And we are sinking faster than the Titanic.

Get qualified help or get out.

From what I understand part of the problem is the University isn't willing to pay the money needed to get better assistants correct?

Isn't true at all. Bo is welcome to interview whoever he pleases. If he for example wanted an OC and DC with solid resumes the AD would open the wallet. Bo prefers his buddies that he has for the most part years of experience on....Bo started coaching college ball in 2003...and is a veteran coach on our staff. He seems to shy away from coaches that know a thing or ten

Okay so since you say it isn't true we are just supposed to believe you then huh? I distinctly remember hearing that Stoops wanted to come here when he got fired from Arizona to be our D.C. since we were looking for one when Carl left. From what I remember it was said that Stoops was going to demand too much money and we weren't willing to part with that money. This is coming from people who were apparently in "the know." So instead he goes to OU, they pay him $600,000 a year and we get Papuchis at $300,000 a year. Makes ZERO sense IMO, Bo can't be the head coach and the D.C. Beck is working out okay, but he still has moments of complete and utter stupidity, but he's getting better. We need changes at the D.C. position, offensive line position, and maybe the LB position, but I haven't decided on that. We need better coaches in those area and we need to pay them the money they want or more than we are willing to pay if we want this experiment with Bo to work out in the long run. That or we can spend the next 15 years winning 8 to 10 games a year and no conference championships.

I really do not know, I do know that a lot fo the money they play with comes from a booster in Texas. I know that he loves Bo, or did.

I have suggested that several times, but I am now feeling it is like state above. He wants no waves, he wants yes men. He bullies them, does their jobs and never seems to be teaching them. We never seem to see improvement in areas that are so basic.

I am honestly lost on this. This defeat is going to have major affects on this program, and if we follow it up with the likely loss to Georgia. God only knows where this program is headed.

It is like a snake with out a head, out of control, no sense of direction and no answer for how it got there.

This is getting sickening, as most on here are talking about how much easier the schedule is next year. Who Cares, we suck. Winning games means nothing if you can not compete with the better teams in the conference. We got killed by the third best in the leaders division, lucky to win some in our own division to even be there. So were happy about an easier schedule. What ever happened to being a proud program, that showed who we were on the field, not looking for ways to back in. I am sick of it. This is not the Nebraska I knew by any means.

I have a point here so bare with me, when I got promoted to supervisor I had to read several books on supervision, take several classes, and of course learn how to be a supervisor. One of the biggest mistakes supervisors make is trying to do everything themselves. They need to allow the people below them and around them to do their jobs, if they don't they are doing themselves and the department a huge disservice. They will literally drive themselves crazy and work themselves to death if they are trying to do everyone else's job. Bo needs to learn to not be such a control freak and allow his people to do their jobs. If he can't trust them to do their jobs, then it's obvious what needs to happen................they need to go and he needs to find someone that he can trust to do their job. I allow my people to fail every now and again on things to teach them a lesson, they aren't big failure, but smaller failures, then I speak with them about what happened, why it happened, and what they need to do in the future to not allow those same mistakes to occur. Obviously I'd be a terrible supervisor if I allowed them to fail big time and I'm not going to let that happen. As a supervisor I can't worry about their job, I have to look at the big picture. Their picture is much more finite than mine, they worry about their little world and that's it, I have to worry about much more. Bo is trying to worry about the big picture, this guy's little picture, this guy's little picture, etc................he can't do it all and he hasn't learned that yet. Surround yourself by qualified, experienced, hard-working, good people and you'll be successful. I understand he wants to lead from the front, but that's a lot of stuff to try and control all at once. I'm not a yes man, my boss knows this and doesn't always like it, but he knows that I'm going to say it like it is and not sugar coat things to make him feel all warm and fuzzy. Bo needs guys like this so he isn't stuck in his own little world.........

And where do you distinctly remember hearing this? The only place I remember hearing anything like this is right here on HB, and other Husker forums and blogs.

Well look at what they are spending on a head coach right now and the results we are getting? I'm a Bo supporter, but the results aren't where we want them to be, but we are taking a chance on a guy that had zero head coaching experience. Doesn't make much sense to pay him what he's making then in that regards huh? Seems like a bad business decision even if he is paid middle of the road in the B1G from what I understand. Ask skersfan and he'll tell you that we are trying to win championships on the cheap and it ain't working out as good as the university had hoped.

I believe Kirby Smart is making over a million five a year with incentives, or at least that is state quite regularly on Finebaum. That is with a defensive guru as head coach. Bama is not that much richer of a program than Nebraska if any, but has been through the same thing we are going through. Finally they paid the money needed to win. Their coaching budget is twice at least what we pay ours. In the long run you always get what you pay for.

I still want Bo to succeed, he almost has to. But he needs help. He hires people that are not qualified for the jobs, and then as BRI says micro manages them to the point where they do not learn and in reality is doing their jobs. I think he is good guy, but is just in way over his head. I am really the most disappointed in Coach Osborne. He knows the pitfalls, and he knew coming in how hard it was going to be. The only time we see him involved is when Bo has made a TV blunder it seems to me. Then of course Bo could be so stubborn he will not listen to Tom. Who knows.

Maybe the new AD will be stronger and put some guide lines in place for hiring, certain levels of experience and demand that they are met. That would seem reasonable to me.
