Hedley Lamarr
All-American
Did someone just compare Favre to Martinez and call them similar....ohhhh golly gee. Here is to Martinez having a phenomenal NFL QB career
Most actually....He plays 4 quarters every game! How many of our other QBs can say that? You also get 1-2 extra games a season. Of course you will own stat records. 4 years of 13-14 games while playing all 4 quarters. Yeah you better break records against guys that had 2-3 yrs of games they more often then not didn't play 4 quarters in.He owns a ton of records and he's only played three years to date. He is one of the better QBs we have had. Very system fitting as well.Martinez one the of the greatest husker qb's ever? lol. wow really WHAT ARE YOU PEOPLE SMOKING THESE DAYS? Hedley has it right, Martinez is only going to break records cause he started day 1 of his freshman year and rarely got substituted. He hasn't won a conference championship. You can't even begin to say he is that good. He struggles mightly against better teams.
Except he was hurt half his freshman year so that cuts that logic out.He plays 4 quarters every game! How many of our other QBs can say that? You also get 1-2 extra games a season. There are 21 other players-many more than that counting special teams- that play a huge role in a team's win-loss record. You cant put that solely on the shoulders of a quarterback and then try to spin it into a negative analyzation of that player's legacy. That is ludicrous. So? what has he won? He hasn't won a conference championship even though he has had 2 chances already. Most of those records are passing which aren't high cause we were a traditional running team for so long.He owns a ton of records and he's only played three years to date. TaggeName me 5 clear cut, better QB's that Nebraska has had?
I've always found that arugment interesting. A "team" doesn't win championships so it tarnishes a players legacy? Doesn't make much sense, but that is why Frazier is widely regarded as a better college QB then Crouch.... What would that team been like with Crouch instead of Frazier at QB? Pretty good right? I'd take Crouch, personally....There are 21 other players-many more than that counting special teams- that play a huge role in a team's win-loss record. Yeah in 2010 we were never up and had a chance to win the conference. this year in the CCG first pass he threw was interception which pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game. There are 21 other players-many more than that counting special teams- that play a huge role in a team's win-loss record. Exactly, he accumulated stats that others would not have in those games.Except he was hurt half his freshman year so that cuts that logic out.He plays 4 quarters every game! According to your profile, you are 24 years old.... How many times did you see Tagge, Humm, Ferragamo, Gill, or Taylor play? I'm 26 years old, and I'd bet we've seen them play about the same number of times....TaggeName me 5 clear cut, better QB's that Nebraska has had?
Humm
Ferragamo
Gill
S. Taylor
Frazier
Berringer
Frost
Crouch
Next group down
Lord
Ganz
Z. Taylor
Quinn
McCant
I would put Taylor in with the 2nd group
Most college QBs don't have the luxury of starting more or less four full seasons because they wait around behind other guys. Hedley's point isn't about the 'longevity' being good or bad, but merely that Taylor is hitting the record books in part due to having a lot more games started than most of the guys whose career numbers he is surpassing. And with quarterbacks in particular, W/L is a key statistic in their legacy and right or wrong, Taylor's W/L % don't put him in that category at NU.You honestly believe that Martinez IS NOT one of the best QB's to ever play at Nebraska? I would like to hear you defend that.... Also, isn't longevity a quality in most great QB's.
I feel really bad for your husker_99. You're life must be one big disappointment when you watch the Huskers.Except he was hurt half his freshman year so that cuts that logic out.He plays 4 quarters every game! Can you hold that against a guy? I say no, especially when we consider Frazier, and Crouch to be our two best QB's ever, and they both started 4 years....Most college QBs don't have the luxury of starting more or less four full seasons because they wait around behind other guys.
