Five-Star Recruit
plz change the d-line scheme
It's not accepting mediocrity. It's having the common sense to understand that as long as we're winning 9-10 games a year and competing for conference championships, that coaching changes cannot take place. That lack of common sense is why we are trying to rebuild in the first place. A significant portion of the fan base simply does not have common sense in the name of "im an idiot".I'm so sick of the excuses. The conference change, the officials, it's hard to recruit to Nebraska, etc....
The fact is a significant portion of this fan base has embraced mediocrity in the name of....I'm not sure. The team played horribly on defense today and the offensive line made stupid penalties at inopportune times. As fans / consumers, we should demand better. The product of the last 5 years is not acceptable. 9 wins a year is nice, but 4 blowout losses a year are not.
The fabled 2007 team gave up 29 points per game and 530 yards per game in all of its losses.
The 2012 team in its 4 losses gave up 53 1/2 points per game and 595 yards per game.
Finally, i feel sorry for Beck that he is saddled with incompetent offensive coaches like Barney Cotton. 5 years in and NU has not produced an all-conference Offensive lineman. Penalities and mental mistakes are a given every game. Offensive lineman used to be the bread and butter of our football program, now they are glorified walkons
So, go ahead and put your head in the sand and tell me that all is well. A moral victory is not giving up 595 yards of offense. Expect more of the same until changes are made.
They overacheived big time today. Liked what we did today.plz change the d-line scheme
Really? Intercollegiate athletics and student athletes are not the same as "building a country" Good god man. This is what America was built on. Improvise, adapt and overcome. Those who refuse to do the same deserve the boot imprint in the back of their skull. Right now NU and the rest of the nation can read "Made In China" stamped on their a$$ as the next SEC players cleat steps on it on their way to another win. But hey, "they don't do it the right way." I'm still waiting for someone to name the last team to win the right way. Would that be USC, Ohio State, Alabama, or LSU?Well Billdozer, that pretty much sums up what you are all about. Win at all costs! I hope you have a son good enough to play in the SEC and after two years he gets a letter telling him his scholarship is gone.
100% true, watch the first pick by smith he didn't bite on the play fake all the other deep throws the safety bit hardAlthough I am not trying to call you out here Maudfather, that is not entirely true in this match zone scheme. Green and Evans were supposed to have safety help over the top on those deep throws. The problem lies in the fact that all season long our safeties have bit on play fakes causing them to be 2 steps behind when they are to have over the top responsibility.No. Anyone who has ever played in the secondary knows that your most basic responsibility is to not let the receiver get behind you. Those deep balls that torched Evans and Green were not covered well.Exactly EZ. The two touchdowns on Evans were both covered pretty well. Their receivers made great plays on both. The other two were on illegal pick plays. The replays showed bad both were. Considering how depleted the D line was, I was pretty happy with the scheme.
This isn't all on the safeties, however. The front 7 has been so bad against the run that the safeties have run support responsibility as well. We are lucky to have had the success we've had in the secondary when we are committing at least 1 additional defender up for run support.
Therefore, scheme is a small problem. It is more on personnel.
people like you are what hurts recruiting more than anything. Please, go buy a kansas st. shirt, and at least have the balls to keep it on after Snyder leaves. While our defense stunk let's not forget about 2 more turnovers (interceptions this time) by good ol' Martinez one of which was at a critical point in the game that once again negated our hopes of even staying in this game.I applaud Tim Beck. Guy had a big job to do and did it. Improvement by TMart, good crop of backs and Wr's. O-Line needs work and if they were strong we could really be rolling on offense. But as mentioned, when you put up 30 or more points up in 4 losses, it is a defense problem.
I really hope these new defensive guys can play.
Get ready people, it's gonna be the saaaame thing next year...... Can't wait!!!!
I can understand injuries causing a letdown on D, but 70 points, 650 yards, etc. are unacceptable. This should not happen even if you lost your entire 1st string.I was just kind of wondering after reading some of this (not all couldn't do it) if everyone has forgotten about the KEY injuries that we had this year on D. Anderson would have been huge for us this year if he wouldn't have gotten hurt. Baker was a really big loss and VV and others behind him having injuries just killed us. This, was the biggest problem this year Period. I see the depth being shored up and recruiting is looking pretty good so far. We have holes yes but most of the plays today in the d backfield wasn't because of not being ther as much as just whiffing when going for the ball. Well, I guess in stead of the one 87 yarder where the whole d was out of position.
The problem is that on the defensive side of the ball the talent is sitting on the bench because they don't know the scheme well enough. To claim that Bo hasn't brought in talent in the past three and now four recruiting cycles would be incorrect.Wow, talk about not knowing what you are talking about. The part that I bolded is a flat out lie. He never oversigned, and the only class that had over 25 was 2005 and that was because the coach that put this school in the crapper in the first place left him 5 recruits and he was only able to sign 13 kids in 2004. So it was no woner that 2007 was a bad season, but if it were Bo, a lot of you would be making excuses for him. It's uneducated posts like this that make the saying that "nebraska fans are the smartest fans in the country" a flat out lie.Pretty sure Osborne didn't have top 5 recruiting classes every year. Lots of teams win without great recruiting. Callahan was a used car salesman that lied to recruits to get them on campus. Over signed his classes and still couldn't win. Just a flat out terrible coach. A lot like Mac Brown. Great recruiter, terrible coach. Bo was able to take his talent and make winners out of them. Does Bo have it all figured out yet. NO! He doesn't. But he is a FIRST time head coach. Would Osborne be any better after year 5. I doubt it. Would you be calling for T O's head? You can put all your eggs in the recruiting basket but I hate to break it to you. We are never going to consistently compete with warm weather schools in recruiting.
You can make all of the excuses you want about Bo, but his Solich style of recuriting has caught up with him. You can recruit a top 15 class to Nebraska if you hire compenteant coachs that are willing to put in the effort to do so. As of now, we do not have that, but just because they can't do it, doesn't mean that it can't be done.
I say NU would have won today with zero turnovers, no false starts and no blocked punts. Which is remarkable since the D gave up 591 yards. While our defense stunk let's not forget about 2 more turnovers (interceptions this time) by good ol' Martinez one of which was at a critical point in the game that once again negated our hopes of even staying in this game.I applaud Tim Beck. I would be happy with 50 wins in 5 years if there weren't for the blowout losses. I do not want Bo replaced, I just want the blowout losses and defensive meltdowns to stop.Do all of you Bo haters have monthly meetings where you talk about your talking points? Everyone of you can only complain about recruiting and the assistant coaches. Most of which I think are doing a pretty good job. You act like 5 years with nearly 50 wins is the end of the world. Because of YOUR unrealistic goals for the program. 90% of Husker Nation is willing to give Bo 5 more years to get everything figured out. The amazing part is that very few of you have coached 1 minute of football in your entire life. I'm going to put my faith in Tom Osborne when it comes to what is best for our program.
This is a reasonable request. I want the same thing.I would be happy with 50 wins in 5 years if there weren't for the blowout losses. TMart is not the issue. I'd like to see his OL help him out more but kid is a baller. He is our QB. As for the defense, it is terrible. No one's position should be safe. We lose a lot of guys on D so let's see what these new guys can do. If guys like Green, Rome, and Evans lose their jobs, so be it.While our defense stunk let's not forget about 2 more turnovers (interceptions this time) by good ol' Martinez one of which was at a critical point in the game that once again negated our hopes of even staying in this game.I applaud Tim Beck.
