I would agree with this so far. All the qbs at 6 and above have conference titles...Martinez is 7B
Fair enough, just wondering.Because he is behind the first six, but probably ahead of the last threeIn what way he is comparable to Dave Humm?Uh, he is comparable to HummUh, what?Martinez is 7B
Which is kind of sad considering he's likely not even in the top 10 QBs this season. I think the fact that he's broken so many career records seems to automatically vault him to the top - but I think any number of past QBs leading this offense would be equal or better. It speaks volumes about Martinez that we're not comparing him to any of our second-tier quarterbacks. When the comparison conversation comes up, it's always how he compares to the best ever at Nebraska.
Where he stands on that list is a matter of opinion, but with his senior season still to play, he's already in the conversation of top-five QBs.
Big games like Ohio State 2011, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Penn State and Michigan State? Or are you only focusing on the losses, where the defense gave up 50+ points per game?In the big games that Nebraska has needed to turn the corner Martinez was no where to be found all the while fumbling, bumbling and throwing incredibly untimed interceptions while doing it. He's piled on the stats that naturally come with being the starter for 3 years.
I don't think you can blame Martinez for our losses - but games like 2011 Wisconsin, or Washington 2.0 in 2010, or UCLA 2012...those were games were we would have needed to 'overcome' Martinez in order to win. He didn't lose them, but we certainly would have needed to win despite him.Big games like Ohio State 2011, Wisconsin, Northwestern, Penn State and Michigan State? It's flat silly to blame Martinez for our losses. He threw most of his picks when he was forced to throw the ball because the defense couldn't stop anyone. He has fumble issues and he has pocket-awareness issues, but there isn't a QB on your list of "preferred" players that didn't have issues.
And LOL at Crouch not being good enough for you.
Tommie Frazier was never a top ten quarterback, either. In fact, have any of our top quarterbacks ever been in the top ten, or even the top 25 in the NCAA? We don't run those kinds of offenses.Which is kind of sad considering he's likely not even in the top 10 QBs this season. I think you need to read the post again. I did list Crouch who was one dimensional which for posterity sake I will clarify for you. Teams did not see Crouch as a threat at all whatsoever through the air. LOL at you for thinking differently......And LOL at Crouch not being good enough for you.
I'm not following you. You're saying Martinez would have cost us these games, but the team overcame his errors?I don't think you can blame Martinez for our losses - but games like 2011 Wisconsin, or Washington 2.0 in 2010, or UCLA 2012...those were games were we would have needed to 'overcome' Martinez in order to win. I read what you wrote just fine, and I feel dumber for having done it twice now. You said:I think you need to read the post again. You didn't say anything about "teams." Nice try, though.Crouch was to one dimensional for me but the kid could obviously run
I'm it would have taken a great effort by the rest of the team to overcome Martinez/Beck in the 2nd half of the UCLA game. (same w/ UGA) Like the defense was going to have to score 9 because the offense wasn't going to be putting up points. But there were so many other things that went wrong in these games you could never just pin it on one guy.I'm not following you. LOL. And roger that for my feeling dumber now regarding this. Now, I've got some Chicago pizza to go devour. Seriously. You kids have fun though and remember...I read what you wrote just fine, and I feel dumber for having done it twice now. You said:I think you need to read the post again. Braxton was a finalist with a worse season. Martinez doesn't stand a chance. The deck is stacked against him.Martinez for Heisman 2013.
HOLLA.
I'm guessing he's saying is, if you're not "down" on Martinez, you're some kind of delusional "he's going to win the Heisman" fan.Braxton was a finalist with a worse season. Martinez doesn't stand a chance. The deck is stacked against him.Martinez for Heisman 2013.
