Major Officiating Concerns for Men

Flagrant 1 or Flagrant 2 Fouls for Elbow Contact

Officials are reminded that there can be incidental contact with the elbow above

or below the shoulders; swinging of the elbow is required for the foul to be

classified as a flagrant 1 or 2 foul. Some incidental contact is being penalized

improperly.

Shields what a game! Great job on the win today guys, lets hope we can catch Illinois during their cold streak on Tuesday.

Great win on the road.!! Huskers have met my expectations for the year...double digit wins and a conference win.

My new goal for the Huskers is more 2 conference wins.

My biggest problem with the flagrant foul is that they never whistled it as a foul in the first place. To go back and have to review the tape multiple times and for it to be questionable and very subjective defies the very definition of flagrant. Where's the common sense man? This is going to happen when short guys get in tight underneath big guys. Not intentional and very incidental. Felt like the refs were trying to give the game to PSU along with a few other games.

Good job by Shavon! Was aggressive but under control going to the hoop. Good work.

Benny bounced back and was a positive guy for us today. Kudos to him.

Yeah, that's what really sucked. If it would have at least been called a foul, we don't get another foul and give them more free throws. At least they bricked them.

Shields is really progressing a lot faster than I thought he would. Huge game for him. I know PSU isnt the greatest team but a win on the road in the big 10 is huge!

Confidence should be getting better for this team.

Shield with a man game today. 29 points, 10-11 from the field, 8-8 from the line.

For all the Doc-like performances, two things drastically stand out with this Miles led team. Turnovers and free throws. , 16-16 today from the line and that has been a positive stat line in almost every box score.

The turnovers, especially dumb ones, have dropped a bunch. Like the other night, only two. TWO. Unfortunately poor shooting against Purdue in the first half, buried this stat. The wasted possessions that killed this team in the pasture not near as frequent.

Good win. There will be more, including one they have no business winning

Talley did a good job at pt today with Benny off the bench. The bigger lineup works the best. I am really happy about the FT's. Getting to the line is half the battle and that starts with getting to the hoop and not launching 3's all the time. Or you can do what the PSU kid always did. Shot fake then leap into the defender while the other guy is in the air.

I know we don't have the bench to do it, but they scored better when they pressed it down th court to get quick baskets and keep it up tempo.

Maybe a sign of whats to come next year.

LOLOLOL

FREE THROWS ARE HARD

The call is correct, btw. It was absolutely called by the letter of the rule which is to prevent flailing elbows in situations like that, no matter if he was trying to keep the ball high or not
I believe the rule is if you are throwing elbows out... He was extending his arms.
No way to judge intent; you can only call what occurred.
It was a good call. Even if he hit him with his arm and it was above the dfenders shoulders its a flagerant foul. Thats why coaches teach players to swing low through their hips.
