TV's Distortion of How Big People Are

Yeah, he's clearly a physical juggernaut. Neural muscle connectivity, and all that.

On a different train of thought, I'd be really curious to see T-Magic on a scale right now. Seems he's got to weigh more than huskers.com shows on the roster.
Taylor has gotten huge compared to what he was like as a Freshman.

When this season started, I remember thinking that his arms and legs look huge and ripped since the last time I'd seen him.

In that photo above, his legs don't look small.
I will guarantee you that his legs are not skinny. His power comes from the ground up through his core.
Both good points. And there's no way that an elite trainer would let let lower body strength get neglected.

He's got to weigh considerably more than 185.

Yeah, and (no homo) also his a$$. Which is obviously a sign of squats/deads/cleans, etc. being done, when your glutes grow like that.

I agree speed, and I'd bet he weighs closer to 215. He's not brittle like some people believe; he's a physical anomaly in my opinion. He's tough as nails in general, and his weight seems to be perfect for him right now.

Interestingly, Martinez and Woods are listed as the same height (6'1"). I bet they are very similar in weight also with Martinez having a slight edge.

So to the original premise, does TV "widen" people out some? Gives the perception of stockier and shorter?

For these athletes: They have all day, and all the people to help them be ripped/eat well.

I mean look at the people on the Biggest Loser. If my job consisted of running up and down a court for 35-40 minutes... and lifting on down times.. i bet I could be pretty ripped.

That being said, the best example of this is the UFC.. Some of these guys like huge and then you see there only 5'8 and 155 pounds.

Like I said in a previous post, I think it can go either way. I have seen some athletes in person that look larger than on TV and I have seen some that look smaller than on TV.

Good point. Wouldn't that be nice?
