The Vaqueras of Bayamon in the Puerto Rican league won their first match of the season in four. Hannah Werth had 15 points and Lauren Cook had all of the teams 26 assists (deceptive number because the assist rule in PR is different than we are used to.)

Also, Leonas de Ponce who are 2-0; Gina Mancuso 12 kills 1st match, 21 kills 2nd match.

After years and years and years of mostly blondes on the Husker Volleyball team, it was a bit of a shock to see that every single girl on the Vaqueras is brunette. :D

 
In recent action, Mancuso scored 26 points in helping Ponce to a four-set win over Carolina on Feb. 5. As Ponce took on Mayaquez on Feb. 8, she posted 18 points. Ponce then recorded a four-set win over Juncos as Mancuso aided the team with 20 points.
Werth notched a team-high 20 points for Bayamon as they beat Carolina in five sets, while Cook tabbed 15 assists and 14 digs. Werth tallied 13 points for Bayamon in a three-set loss to Caguas on Feb. 9, as Cook handed out eight assists.

Former Huskers Face-Off in Puerto Rico

Three former Huskers faced-off in international competition last week as Bayamon (Lauren Cook, Hannah Werth) took on Ponce (Gina Mancuso) in Puerto Rico. Werth scored 11 points for Bayamon in the three-set victory on Feb. 15, while Lauren Cook posted 12 assists in the victory. Mancuso led Ponce with 10 points.

In action later in the week, Werth had 15 points and Cook notched 21 assists as Bayamon lost in five sets to Guaynabo.

Lauren Cook provided 27 assists in a four-set win for Bayamon over Catano on March 12. Gina Mancuso had 20 points in a four-set Ponce loss to Carolina on March 13. Cook notched 13 assists, 12 digs and four points in Bayamon's four-set win over Ponce on March 15, while Mancuso led Ponce with 20 points in the match. Cook also added 16 assists and 13 digs in a five-set loss to Mayaquez on March 17. Hannah Werth, who plays for Bayamon, continues to be sidelined with an injury.

In Puerto Rico, Lauren Cook tallied 23 assists, 13 digs and five points for Bayamon in a loss on March 26. Gina Mancuso notched a match-high 23 points in leading Ponce to a four-set win over Humacao on March 28. Tara Mueller tallied eight points in Juncos' loss on March 28. Mancuso had a match-high 21 points in pacing league-leader Ponce to a four-set win over Juncos on March 13, as Mueller had 11 points in the match. Cook recorded 14 assists and nine digs in a three-set loss on March 30. She also handed out 23 assists to go along with 14 digs and six points for Bayamon in a loss on April 1. Hannah Werth continues to be sidelined with an injury.
