NCAA march madness & 2k College Hoops

Maybe this has already been addressed sometime ago, but how come they quit making these two games? I have been wanting to get a college basketball game and while I would prefer a 2k game over EA, I cant really be picky.

Lack of sales probably coupled with high production/licencing costs would be my bet. College sports games need to sell obscene numbers in the US, as there is almost absolute zero interest in them outside the country.
