NU Basketball NOT Fan Friendly

You seem quite bitter about this, jmfb. I would like to take this moment to related to you that there are far more important things in the world to get shook up about. Good Day, sir.

Just find it very odd that a multi million $$ operation that is NU basketball operates like a CYO little league team or hillbilly motel operator

Maybe time to run it like a real business instead of a place for Aunt Marge to hang out with her friends

When you dont have a very good product ( it will get better I like Miles) and your customer service and parking stink, tough to attract people beyond the hard core fans.

Like going to a restaurant- if the food isnt very good, and the service is awful and parking is really a hassle- why bother to go there- there are other restaurants, or you could not eat out at all- eat at home :hmmph

Lots of options other than going to the game.

As a businessman and hard core NU fan, Im just appalled at the lack of effort and professionalism when it comes to this. It isnt little league, it's DI basketball. I doubt Michigan, Kansas or Indiana have Ma ana Pa Kettle running things with tin cans a shoe box and string LOL.

Do us all a favor and stop going

not defending the management at the Bob in anyway but, as a business owner you know its not as simple as a $30.00 charge every month. Each credit transaction carries a fee, a percentage that has to be reconciled at then end of the month in your P|L. Added accounting costs. If you notice most places default to debit, that's because there are no fees for debit transactions. Now, with the new law that our administration has passed or is about too, the credit fees will be passed on to the consumer. So the bill will be your cost + tax + credit fee percentage up to 5% I believe (average is 2-3% per transaction). Now with that comes even more accounting and more cost. That being said, its not that simple when you have to add a dedicated line either land or ethernet.

As a business owner, I GUARANTEE you NU doesnt pay 5% or the $30 per month- that's for small business

My fees are much less and I run a MUCH smaller business than NU basketball

Those $30 machines dont require a dedicated line or ethernet, the transactions are stored in the machine, then downloaded later. That is 1 simple option.

Accounting is accounting it is NOT a big deal in any way, a place in the ledger

NU is paying fees now, it's nothing more than writing in different amount in the columns, it isnt like you proccess each transaction by hand. Doesnt work that way

In todays day and age if you arent offering credit card as a payment option, you are in the stone age- no one takes you seriously

Again like a CYO little league team- vs what DI basketball is

The real world real businesses like DI basketball programs accept credit cards

Ma and Pa Kettle little league teams using a shoe box, cans and string dont

You are either a modern day DI basketball program or you arent

Investing millions in facilities, coaches and the like and not a TINY amount on proccess, makes little sense to me

The whole archaic system is a turn off- Im sure they lose business because of it

Im SURE there are people that attend- thinking like every other venue out there, takes credit cards. They get up to the ticket Kiosk, after spending 10 minutes in line in the cold- they are told no we dont take credit cards, you have to wait in that line over there for that $150 transaction for your 6 tickets. They stand in that other line for 10 minutes and see little movement with the game fast approaching, they just say the heck with it, lets spend the $$ on drinks and a nice dinner and watch it on TV.

You are either serious about being fan friendly and catering to your customers- being in the 21st Century and increasing attendance or you arent

Look what Creighton is at right up the road in Omaha- Im guessing they have more than 1 window to buy tickets using Credit Cards

What is being done right now isnt working very well

Like I said, there are other entertainment options out there AND you can watch in on TV, so if the hassles pile up enough, parking, weather, tickets, customer service- that camels back get's broken.

Hey I'm on your side. I was merely pointing out that there are alot more logistics involved than just slapping a machine down and saying knock yourself out, take a payment. Again, I am not defending them in anyway I think your right.

Went to the Iowa game with my kids in tow

Great game- at least the second half

Once again, had to use the ONLY ticket booth that took coupons or credit cards

Was told at the Kiosk ONLY the ONE ticket booth at will call can take credit cards or coupons

SO we wait in the line with little kids in tow

Get to the front of the line- sure they are able to help us

I HAD CASH because I KNOW the kiosks wont take credit cards

When I asked why they didnt the lady says 'it takes a special machine" to take credit cards

No sh#t Sherlock and EVERYONE including my TINY small business takes credit cards

The machine costs $30 a month- I guess that is TOO MUCH to ask for a DI basketbal program

The table at the willl call window looked like something out of a CYO league- about $2,000 in small bills spread over a card table and a bunch of trash everywhere

What a joke

Why I bother going is beyond me- its not like they are top 20 or anything

Parking stinks too

Second rate- POOR:LY managed- SIMPLE to solve

Whoever is in charge of that should be fired
Upgrade?

You call First National Bank

They mail a battery operated credit card machine to you

If costs $30 per month

It takes less than 30 minutes and zero expertise to do

Really bush league deal- in a DI venue- a joke

My guess is they make back the whopping $30 per month charge on the people who wont stand in line in the cold for 20 minutes when there is no earthly reason they should- poor management- or maybe they just dont care if people have to stand in line in the cold with little kids- a lack of a "customer focused" attitude- which might actually help put fans in the stands

Run it like a business, not like little Sallys lemonade stand

MUCH easier to stay home and watch it on BTN- rather than hassle with jumping through all those silly (but VERY easy to solve) hoops
Reminded me of staying at one of those cheap hillbilly ozark motels- I did back on a vacation back in college days

The guy at the front desk is doing nothing, and doesnt bother to acknowledge your existence. After 10 minutes and a huge SIGH< he finally decides to take your payment.

Someone in the back comes out after a yell of "Hey Billy Bob, We have one of those CREDIT CARD things" all the while looking at the credit card like it is some type of never seen before magical atomic matter, that requires magical powers and massive intelligence to proccess, all done after a big sigh.

Billy Bob takes your credit card, 15 minutes later the one toothed old man SLOWLY emerges with his limp from a back office with papers stacked to the rafters with his family members eating a possum and cornbread dinner all around him

He takes another 5 minutes trying to find a pen so you can sign it. all the while not seeming to have any interest at all in whether you stayed in the motel or not.

Pretty much how to describe how paying by credit card OR redeeming a coupon works at the ONLY window you can pay via CC at Devaney

Send your suggestion to the new A.D. Sounds like an easy win for him and the fans.

You might want to use actual sentences and paragraphs though, otherwise he probably won't take you seriously.

I have season tickets so I've never had to pay for anything outside

I would think between scalpers and GA a guy could buy 4 tickets with cash, easily

Nebraska won so let's be happy

Cookie monster never swallows his cookies

A game with the kids should be worth a short wait in line
