When I dabbled in coaching I would NEVER use the 2-3 defense or man because that is what other teams ran, and practiced against. Either 1-3-1 or 1-2-2. Got the idea from Osborne: every one was running the wishbone in the '70s, so he ran pro style. When others went away from option, he went back to it.Zeller just needs to learn how to play as big as he is. He's a smart player, but plays like he's small.
Your average layman basketball fan always mocks and scoffs at the idea of a 2-3 zone - but people that know the game well know that it can work, and that conceptually, it's the perfect defense. If ran well, it's extremely tough to penetrate, and the difficulty is compounded by the fact that nobody does it so teams hardly ever see/have to prepare for it.
