Wondering if this would change the perception of Bo

While this has gotten a lot of publicity for Bo and for the University of Nebraska, I can confidently say that those two things were the furthest things from the reason why Bo and NU gave Jack the opportunity to live out the dream of every Nebraska kid. We all know that Bo doesn't care as much about the media as he does his players. Honestly, that's the way it should be.

So he gets after a player harder than some people think he should have, who cares? I don't, I know Bo doesn't. And, at the end of the day, the message got across and the player he yelled at became a better person because of it.

Anyone who says Bo doesn't care about his players or that players hate Bo are just flat out wrong.

IMO I think Eichorst had a sit down with him and explained to Bo that he needed to take a different approach with the media. I think Bo felt as if he could really do what he wanted when TO was here cuz he had a feeling that TO wouldn't hammer down on him. I think Eichorst wants a better perception of Bo and the program and in order to accomplish that it starts with Bo's demeanor toward the media and the public.

There is no doubt that Jack's story has unintentionally helped this program in a number of ways. Its helped people's outlook on the program. Helped people realize its more than football. It put Nebraska on a national scene and will def help recruiting. This kind gesture wasn't inteded to do those things but it did. And all are positive for the program.

Eichorst hasn't been here long enough to have anything to do with Bo's demeanor.
anyone heard of impress your new boss? I think Eichorst has a plan and if Bo doesn't want to follow that plan then there is no emotional attachment to keep him around. I think Bo realizes that and is willing to make a change much quicker... just my thought. I have no evidence to substantiate this.

This is the point I was going to bring up. Even the most cynical person about this program can't argue that this was done for media exposure or to make the program look good. They did it for Jack and the exposure just happened to follow. It'd be rather absurd to think otherwise.

Shawn better have plan. It's call "keep your nose out of sh#t and let the dept run itself". Our athletics are set for a very long time. Personell wise and financially. Shawn doesnt need a plan for anything. The last guy that "had a plan" burned the damn house down.

What?
yes. What do you think Osborne has been doing the last 5+ years. Facilities? check. Major programs coaching changes and stability? check. Financially? check. Conference re-alignment? check

Tell me if this is not correct. What does Eichorst need a plan for? What does he have to restore or rebuilt? Everything's handled. All he has to do is sit back and manage.

I'm sorry. I just get a little heated whenever I read this "Eichorst has a plan and Bo is on thin ice. The new AD wont be afraid to make a change, yada yada" propaganda. I've heard from some pretty reliable folks that Bo and Shawn have hit it off quite well.

Sorry to break the Bo-haters' hearts, but Shawn Eichorst is not sitting in his office waiting for that excuse/reason to pull the trigger on Bo.

First of all. I never said Bo was on thin ice or that Eichorst needs to come in and change a whole bunch of stuff.

BUT.....If anyone thinks that any leader of the size of organization like UNL athletics just needs to sit back and not do anything is brain dead to what goes into the position. The world is a constant changing world and if he doesn't think ahead to what needs to happen inside the athletic department in the future we are doomed to fail.

Yes. Obviously. I agree. I didnt elaborate on it as I should have. I was responding to this "plan" idea. Obviously an AD needs to have plans and ideas, but the plans that were suggested in 95's post are just a repetitive idea that Shawn is coming in and he's not going to be afraid to fire Bo after the 2013 season if we dont win it all.

ADS seemed to know what I was getting at.

And what coach would come here after we fired a coach that was consistently winning?

Hint - no one good.

Eichorst's plan should be to come in and keep the whole athletic department stable and in an upward trend. He is lucky to follow TO and not have to worry about any major upgrades to any of the facilities and things like that

Shawn's been quoted as being of the opinion that for him to do a good job at his job means that nobody knows his name or what he's up to.

I like this guy.
