What should Chicago do?

Now that the Bulls season has come to a merciful end, it's time to speculate about personnel changes that are coming this off-season. There are lots of possibilities that could happen, but here's what I'd like to see:

First off, get rid of Vlad, Daequan Cook, Nazr, Rip, and Nate (if he's asking for too much money).

Second, sign Marco and Malcom Thomas to long-term deals.

Third, entertain the possibilities of trading Deng and/or Boozer for a guy like Kevin Love (or LaMarcus Aldridge, if a miracle happens).

Finally, draft a SG and C to back up Jimmy/Marco and Noah.

I think the line-up will resemble something like this:

D-Rose, Hinrich, Teague

Jimmy, Marco, Rookie

Deng, Jimmy

Boozer, Taj

Noah, Thomas, Rookie

If any trades occur, it will probably look like this:

D-Rose, Hinrich, Teague

Marco, Rookie

Jimmy

Veteran PF, Taj

Noah, Thomas, Rookie

My dream line-up would look like this:

D-Rose, Hinrich, Teague

Marco, Nate, Rookie

Jimmy, Rookie

Kevin Love/LaMarcus Aldridge, Taj

Noah, Thomas

What do you guys think?

I think Deng and Boozer ought to both be gone. Then pick up a quality big man and a couple of promising rookies. I think that's a championship caliber roster.

Why do you think Deng needs to go? He's a top 10 SF and one of the best on-ball defenders in the league. I would definitely trade him, if the price was right, but I don't just wanna dump him off for some unproven players.

I think Boozer would be hard to move. I wouldn't give $15 mil plus a year to someone that seems to have really hit the backside of the mountain. I wouldn't draft anyone with his existing skill set. And with 2 guaranteed years left it would have to be a multi player deal where the bulls would get multiple bad players with big contracts. The upside would be that they were expiring contracts. I don't think he has anything left to give other than 6 fouls a game.
Deng on the other hand has some skills left and is a versatile player. I'd do what I can to keep him. Id also try to upgrade the 2 position. As much promise as Walker may have shown, I don't see enough in him to be considered nothing more than a nice backup. You're gonna have to figure a way to keep Rose from his Kamikaze like drives to the hoop. I can see his fragile physche being something that turns him into a pure jump shooting PG. he already shot too many 3s when healthy. You'd hate to see him play timid due to the injury and turn into a jump shooter but he can't take the beatings he did on a nightly basis either.

Boozer is actually a pretty good shooter and rebounder. He just can't defend for sh#t and always gets stupid offensive fouls. Trade him, if you can.

As for D-Rose's style of play, I believe he will be a lot different next season. The thing you have to remember is that his first three years in Chicago, he was the only one on the team who could create his own shots and make plays. Now you've got guys like Jimmy and Marco who are capable (although not as much as D-Rose, obviously) of doing that. He won't have to go as hard as he has always had to anymore. Add one more guy like that, such as Kevin Love, and this is gonna be a dangerous team.

As long as they want to play defense they are a second tier team. As long as the east is weak sans Miami and Indiana they will always be looked at as an elite team in the east but its a mirage. With Rose preinjury they can beat anyone in a 7 game series. They just won't be able to beat 3 good teams in a row in order to win a title. They need some scorers at the expense of a little defense. Kevin Love would be nice but he's not a guy that breaks you down in the final seconds of a tied game. If I was Kobe id ask for a trade to Chicago. I think he could win a title with that team.

I get what you're saying, but I have to disagree. I don't want old guys like Kobe or Kevin Garnett on this team, even if we can get them. What's the point? They've got ttwo maybe three years left in the league and then you've gotta start from square one again. Let's just work on developing the young guys like Derrick Rose, Jimmy Butler, Malcom Thomas, Marquis Teague, and maybe Kevin Love.

Hell no on Garnett! I can't stand him first but mostly he just plain sucks these days. On Kobe, I think he still has something left. I'd take him shooting 20 jumpers a game over Rose. Maybe a 3 year deal. He is still a plus defender and a guy that demands a double team. I think he was still at 25 or so points this year. That's nothing to snort at!
You keep mentioning K Love. Is he rumored to want out(wouldn't blame him) or is he just first on your wish list?

The Bulls and the Timberwolves have supposedly been in trade talks for Kevin Love for a time now. I don't know if there's any concrete evidence to support that, but it seems to be widely believed.

For draft picks and/or which players are rumored to be involved?
