1st Offensive series vs Texas

Our 1st offensive series we should air it out!!! That will put texas on their heels off top. A couple to Purify, Nunn, etc... Doesnt really matter who. Pass pass pass!! That will catch them off guard. Blitz if they want to , we'll just put an xtra Wr in the slot. A quick slant route and to the house we go. :nanalama I am no rocket scientist but I do know football. Texas will be on their heels rest of the game, worrying which Wr will burn them this time. Thats when we Let them Big Boys in the backfield loose!! :woo :woo

I like it, and I want to add that the first play we should line up like we are going to pound the rock with two or three tight ends, and then we throw a pass. The rest of the drive can be shot gun and four reciever sets.

 
Again weather will most likely decide a lot of the offensive game plan, but I like the thought of going out on the first offensive possession and sending a statement to Texas!!!!! "We're not afraid of you and we don't care what all the experts say!!!!"

 
Since the first 15 plays are scripted, it's possible. However, you have to consider field position. If our first series starts deep in our own territory, then I don't see a long pass happening - if it's incomplete you've wasted a down and have only two tries to get 10 yards. You don't want to do that and risk giving the ball to the Horns with a short field to go.

 
i dont know about the whole first drive, but id be down with a little playaction, go downfield to Purify on the first play.............take a shot at a big one, then go bacck to cally's usual playbook

Thats what I don't like about the scripted 15 plays. The plays are very safe and usually do not take into account field position. If we were to get a turnover and have the ball on the Texas 25 yard line for our first play, then we should take a chance at the endzone right away rather than stick with the script.

 
We did that against Kansas, then we proceeded to have our defense out there for no less than 94 plays.

I like it. Maybe a play-action pass the first play or even a flea flicker.

If not try to establish the run on 1st and 2nd down and then go for the pass. If we get a 1st then pass on 1st down. Mix it up. We have run the ball too much on 1st down. Reminds me too much of Solich.

 
Personally I would LOVE to see about a 5-7 minute drive thst has a little of everything in it and confuse the horns. eat some clock have a big defensive stand (3& out) then start to disect them with percision passes and timely runs.

Man it is easy to be a coach from behind a keyboard.

I'm thinking the first play should be a trick play something like you might see from the 3 stooges. Like, have one of the Huskers stuff the ball down their pants and go the whole way while performing various antics before finally being tossed into the endzone for a touchdown. The Horns would be soooo surprised and confused. I hope BC reads this.

 
I would love if we started right away by going to Mo. Just get a huge gain on the first play and get the crowd even more hyped up.
