Do you ever watch games at a watchsite?

OH HSKR FAN

I guess this would pertain more to fans that live outside of NE. I use to be real big into them but over the last few years I have enjoyed watching them at home. Guess it is the background conversation and the televisions not being real loud enough to hear. I think most of the fans that go to these games are casual fans at best.

The bars also like to push their overpriced drinks and food probably does not help either.

Yup. I'm a member of the Tampa Bay Huskers, and we just moved to a new watch location this year. The owner is a college buddy of JP, and gave us a good deal to host there.

I pretty much stay at home - or at the stadium.

If I happen to be in Denver on a football Saturday I'll go to a Fox & Hound just for a different atmosphere which is fun every once in awhile.

I would, but here in Oklahoma CIty, the place they use doesn't turn up the volume or use it at all. So until there is a place, it will either be at my house or anothers.

Theres a lot of Husker watchsites in/around the greater Phoenix area. If you go to one sponsored by the booster/alumni association, its loud, they blast in Sirious and the fight song often, which of course, drowns out the telecast, hold contests, etc. Its seems more like a party than watching football. However, if you go to one not sponsored, usually the fans are mostly paying attention to the game. I'll go to a watchsite once, maybe twice, per season to show support for the association, but thats about it. I'd rather watch the game with fans that are totally into the game and not just there to mingle/network.

yeah, I hate that. It's definitely something we make sure doesn't happen.

I have never been to a watch site outside of the state but in Omaha I would much rather watch at the bars with my friends and a packed bar then at home or at a house path type thing.

I know you don't hear the announcers most of the time but, for me, that really doesn't ruin the game. I like that people get loud and giv high fives and freak out. I like that atmosphere better.

I agree with these two statements COMPLETELY. The thing, though, is that if it was a party atmosphere, but it actually attracted cute girls, it wouldn't be so bad. Alas, I have never seen one at any of the 5 different watchsites that I've been to in my life. Mainly just drunk, old people that are more concerned with taking pictures for the group's webpage than people who actually care about the game.

Oh yeah, no hot girls around would mean why even bother going! That is why when I am stuck in Omaha for a game I love hitting the bars, lots of hotties and lots of booze flowing!

For a couple of seasons I watched Husker games at a little dive bar about a half mile from the Pentagon called The Fox Hole. The woman manager of the bar had a boyfriend who was a Husker fan. He'd talk her into airing the Nebraska games. Generally, there were only a few of us watching---which was actually a good thing since I like to be able to see and hear the game. It was sort of like a private little watch site where I could sit at the bar, ordering beer and food, with a front and center view of the game.

Boise's watch site is at Hooter's. I have been once. There was about 30-40 people and they give them their own little area in the place. Not bad except the food at Hooters is terrible.

I normally go to the stadium, but if I can't make the trip for some reason I go to a watch site here in Springfield, MO. Passionate fans, when the game is on the only thing you hear is the game audio.

The bar has a special menu, prices are a little lower than normal.

I like to go to fox and hound in Denver.

In ft Collins they have Jackson's.

in Zurich once I went and watched a game at this crappy hooters, they had about 3 other husker fans there. And once me and 1 other guy watched a game in Stockholm

I don't mind all the ruckus. At the fox and hound I'd say better than 85% of the people are 100% focused on the game 92% of the time. Especially if its a big game, it can actually get pretty intense. I love taking my non husker fan friends to watch sites, they are just amazed at the turnout and passion.

The NE Kansas watch site is at Hooter's in Topeka. That still isn't enough for me to want to go to there (the girls are awesome). They give us a 10% discount and there are drawings for free stuff at halftime. I just can't hear the broadcast and that is important to me so one game, in a last ditch effort, I wore earbuds and listened to the live broadcast but the timing on the plays was bad. I just watch at home if I'm not road tripping to Lincoln.
