First - Time BCS Conference Head Coaches with 9 wins in first five seasons

Osborne and Switzer only played 12 games each year. Pelini has had two-13 games seasons and three-14 game seasons.

but the point remains. if it is so much easier now, why are there not more names up there? also, you have to have a pretty good regular season to be able to play 14 games.

we should just say "first time BCS coaches with 9 wins in first 5 seasons named Bo" - then he'd be the only one and no way he gets fired then.

While that is a good list, it pains me that Bo hasn't done more yet. We are start to seeing more first time coaches doing more in less seasons. Either a top ten finish, bcs bowl appearance, or a national title. I would like to see Bo with 1 of those. Unfortunately it also puts more pressure on Bo.

Care to provide a list?

You hear this a lot. But are Switzer and Osborne guaranteed 2 wins if they played 2 more games? Point being that it is just as likely that you lose the games as win them when you play more.

How many of those schools are still maintaining elite or very good status consistently and/or running clean programs??

Bob Stoops(2nd year national title)

Larry Coker(1st year national title)

Charlie Strong(3rd year i believe bcs bowl game)

Will Muschamp(2nd year bcs bowl game)

Frank Solich(3rd year bcs bowl game)

Jimbo Fisher(3rd year bcs bowl game)

Chip Kelly(1st year bcs bowl game)

these are the only ones i can think off the top of my head. I know the list isn't long but 3 of those coaches it happened over 10 years ago and 4 of them happened in the past 5 years.
