I mainly made this thread because I saw on a status update that a few of you think that clearly Miami is the better squad here. I'm wondering how many of you actually think that. Just wondering.

NFL talent does not equal collegiate success. With all the talent the early 2000's Miami squads had, they massively underachieved.

The parameters of the vote have nothing to do with team accomplishments - it's about the collective talent of all of the individual players listed for each team.

In this case, the NFL success of Miami's players actually casts a shadow over their college dominance. Take a look at the accolades of all of the individual players listed - on a player-by-player comparison, there really isn't any. USC is probably the only program that even comes close.

The way I read it, it is for Nebraska. Saunders is saying that just because Miami had a bunch of NFL talent, they achieved very little. While we had some great college talent and got a few NC's out of it.

Exactly this. Reading the people who slobber over Miami on twitter is cute. Simply ask them how OSU 2002 was even close Miami when Miami out NFL draft picked that roster like 6:1.

I just don't see any merit to rationalizing this vote. If you're a Husker fan you vote Huskers. Who cares if the other guys have a better team? Do you root for Ohio State if they have a better team when we play them?

I have voted for the Huskers, about 5 times today. The question was if I actually think the Miami squad is better, which I do.

As true as that may be (and I agree with you), Ken Dorsey has almost the exact same resume of tangible accomplishments, and Warren Sapp's is pretty close to Suh's as well.

When you say that you think we have the best player of all time and the best on the defensive side as well, then you can't really say dorsey and sapp are the same. the laughter really comes from the sapp and suh comparison (not to say that ken dorsey being compared to tommie doesn't induce laughter as well).

Can't answer the questions about Sapp since I didn't really watch him play and even if I did I didn't have a tally sheet for those sorts of things.

Dorsey was 38-2 as a starter, compared to 33-3 for Tommie. He was 1-1 in National Championship games that he started, while Tommie Frazier was 2-1 (being benched and later coming back in with 7 minutes in the '95 Orange Bowl).
