Clowney is the most overrated player in the history of College Football

My favorite pregame comment was Jesse Palmer saying he is a once a decade D-Line talent. Apparently the past decade doesn't include Suh.

That's because we're currently in a different decade than what Suh did. duh.

They've propped him to such a status as that of an elite qb or rb who could have a huge effect on a game because of the freqency of which they are involved. Clowny is not overrated. He is a tremendous player and is a phenomenal physical speciman. But the thing is, from the position that he plays (DE), he is not going to have near the effect on a game that they are making him out to have. Even guys like Suh and Sapp had more impact because they played the middle of the line. All the offense has to do is run around the opposite end of Clowny and he's essentially completely eliminated from the play. It's really that simple. Overrated? No. Over-hyped? Definitely yes. I'm gonna hold back some of my negative judgement for a few more games. He really may have been sick. But if he wasnt, his lack of conditioning is not only irresponsible, but it is also flat out embarrasing. No excuse for that. He also appeared to me last night as a player that knew in his head and heart that he really didnt have to be there. But again, we'll see as time goes by. There's 12-13 more games to go.
My thoughts exactly.

Another video of Clowney gasping for air.

It's not Clowney's fault that ESPNSUCKS has hyped the guy the way they have. He never asked for that. Also the guy apparently was dealing with a stomach virus. I don't know many people who could go out and play an entire football game when they're sick. Most people would just 'call in' to work instead. If anything hate ESPN not Clowney but hey do what you want. I know who my money's on. Hard to believe he's just now starting his Junior season.

He's gonna have to do a lot to prove to me that he's not overhyped AND overrated imo. It's actually hilarious that the machine tags him with the heisman tag... i'm so sick of espn. it's nauseating.

This is getting a little ridiculous. Yeah, his conditioning sucked, but the guy is really damn good.

UNC clearly game planned for him. They were throwing short routes away from him all night long.

Serious question: Did they announce this BEFORE or AFTER the game?

Would you let your opponent know your best player has a stomach virus?

In the first quarter Clowney basically couldn't be blocked. He is insanely good. Then he got tired and wasn't so good. So yeah, conditioning appears to be a concern, but it's not like that's a big deal. You can always get in shape. Which I suspect he will as the season goes on.

They announced it at halftime. That didn't stop Pollock though.

What are you talking about?? It's already on film. I don't know if you've heard or not, but NFL guys look at film pretty closely. Ain't no work-in-progress first overall draft picks.

You can be insanely successful in college and not do sh#t in the NFL (HELLO??).... you think teams are gonna take a chance on someone barely coming out of stances in games? Good luck.
