Els said, honestly, there's not a lot of separation between about six guys at LB/Dime spots: Santos, Banderas, Rose, Zaire, Mo, Gerry.
For God's sake, put Zaire on the field. If that Compete Drill at the Spring Game was a fluke, fine. But let the man have a chance.
You do realize that Gerry is our best cover LB and that is why he plays in the dime package that we were in a ton of on Saturday? That's the reason he didnt play.

I do. I also realize that Wyoming didn't allow Nebraska's offense to dictate to them who they put on the field on defense. They kept their best athletes on the field, and it nearly won them the game.

It's great that we have such talent across a spectrum of players and possible packages, but that can't trump getting the best players on the field as much as possible.

I also realize that Bo's scheme isn't the only scheme he could be using and still get those players on the field. Bo's scheme can work - but so can about a dozen others. Use the scheme that gets the best guys on the field the majority of the time.

Not disagreeing with you but there is quite a difference in the skills needed in the compete drill and covering a team playing a four- or five-wide offense. Perhaps Anderson has those skills as well but the compete drill really doesn't translate.

Unless you're wanting to give him a shot at MIKE, but that's another story as well.

Do you know that Wyo didnt have certain packages that they used according to our offense??? Our offense could have actually done that.

You are absolutely nuts if you think we are sacrificing ANY athletic ability with Gerry on the field.

Your statements about offenses not dictating who we play on the field is really sounding a lot like Norm Parker's logic at Iowa as to why when teams would go five wide he'd keep his LBs on the field.

Ameer Abdullah has joined Imani Cross in being the last guys off the field now. I'll lay odds T. Newby's with them soon. #Huskers
I imagine this saga ending in the whole team staying late after practice.
Leadership by example. It's gotta start somewhere. Peer pressure is a huge motivator ie Mitchell calling out VV on Twitter, Imani staying late and now AA. Players not speaking PC after the game. Some of the guys appear pi$$ed how Sat went down. This is much better than anything the staff could do to get them more focused and ready.

I sure hope so!! If you wanna be a real championship team you have to put in extra time. Blood, sweat, and tears isnt just a saying. It works! It reminds me of studying in college. You almost always learn more when a group of students come together to learn and brainstorm than going to the prof to have him try to explain it to you.

And Cross being anointed King of Nebraska
Wow...the Unicameral has changed since I was back in state. I suppose it could work though.

Seriously, glad to hear about the leadership Ameer, Imani, et al are showing. Talk only gets you so far, and these guys get it, apparently.
