STILLWATER, Okla. -- Oklahoma State said Saturday that Sports Illustrated has informed the school it plans to publish a series of articles about alleged misconduct in the university's football program starting in 2001.

The university said in a statement that Sports Illustrated outlined allegations involving inappropriate activities and actions, the majority of which occurred from 2001-07. The school said the allegations outlined don't involve any current coaches or players. LSU coach Les Miles coached Oklahoma State from 2001-04. Mike Gundy took over in 2005 and is still the Cowboys coach.

The Oklahoman reported Saturday, citing an unidentified source, that the allegations include payments to players from boosters and academic improprieties including changing grades. The Oklahoman also reported former assistant coach Joe DeForest is accused in the story of running a bonus program, paying players for big plays as recently as 2011.

What I don't get is why would past players and coaches admit all this crap for interviews?

No one's ever accused a great majority of football players to be rocket scientists. There are a select few that are very intelligent though.

Miles instructing the LSU hostesses how to dance seductively for their recruits?

Also, an anon elsewhere mentioned that if those hostesses received 'compensation' for their services, this could get the law involved. And Oklahoma law has a hard on for prosecuting prostituition in all facets.

I mean, if T. Boones Farms Pickens is going to pay for performance, I'm sure he didn't stop with the players...

It's almost to the point now that this stuff is so automatic that I almost prefer we stick with 9-10 wins and no championships, because if we ever accomplished more, I wouldnt be able to help but question if we started "cheating" ourselves.

Yes, I put cheating in quotes to emphasize, because everyone knows some things go on everywhere, but the caliber of which is very minute at some places and major at others.

Part 1: Money (On SI.com Tuesday, 9/10 and in the 9/16/13 SI issue): SI finds that OSU used a bonus system orchestrated by an assistant coach whereby players were paid for their performance on the field, with some stars collecting $500 or more per game. In addition, the report finds that OSU boosters and at least two assistant coaches funneled money to players via direct payments and a system of no-show and sham jobs. Some players say they collected more than $10,000 annually in under-the-table payouts.

This is going to be interesting to read along with the reactions from fans in the state
