No College Game Day?

Undefeated NW vs NU is still a long shot but not completely off base. I think there is enough of emotion to hype up on tv to make that work. Both teams have traded wins against one another at their opponents home stadium. Being undefeated and back in Lincoln would be a great storyline for this budding rivalry to entice a Gameday appearance.

Otherwise what would it take to get them here? We would need to win the Big Ten this year or at least a BCS game so they have enough high profile material to work with. And be undefeated when an undefeated Michigan comes to Lincoln next year.

B1G Title + BCS Berth + Undefeated Record + Undefeated Visiting Wolverines = Gameday

With no disrespect to the OP. This is strictly aimed at ESPN. They can just suck it. I dont want them here, at all. Now, I know their presence brings prestige and relevance (gasp, OMG!!), but I just prefer they stay away from here. They dont deserve to partake in the incredible gameday experience that is Lincoln frickin Nebraska.

Now, if FoxSports 1 gets their kinks worked, yeah, I'd be happey to give them an opportunity in the next few years.

Looking ahead, if northwestern upsets Ohio state, which they have at home and a bye week before, they would most likely come in 8-0 to lincoln. If we beat UCLA we will be 7-0 for that game. Game day would be right here in Lincoln. Absolutely no good games that week at all! I literally couldn't find one that would challenge it. It's pretty crazy to think NW could be a game day game. Michigan most likely won't because they were their for ND and most likely tOSU they will be there if it has big implications

NU doesn't play Michigan next year. The schedules are switched to the East/West format when Rutgers and Maryland enter the conference.

It doesn't matter who your wins are against - if you are 8-0 or 7-0, you're going to be a top 15 team 9 weeks into the season.

Also, how many times has it even been here? Just twice? 2001 vs Oklahoma and 2007 vs USC?
It was at NU quite a few times in the 90s. Off the top of my head, they were here in 1994 for both UCLA and Colorado. Craig James was dubbed the "Mayor of O Street" after hitting the bars after the games were over.
I believe they were here for 1994 UCLA and Colorado as mentioned. 1998 Washington. 2001 Notre Dame and Oklahoma. 2007 USC.

Road games I believe were 1995 Colorado, 1998 Kansas St, 2006 USC (big ? on this one. Memories faint here) 2000 Oklahoma, 2011 Wisconsin.

Then of course the obvious NC bowl games they were at.

The 1994 Colorado game was a riot. They all picked Colorado. I was 11 yrs old and got to go. My parents took me to the field after words. The students had torn down the grease coated goalposts, tried to carry them through the gate 24 exit, they wouldnt fit, so with hundreds of students pushing, they bent it in half, and carried part of it out and laid it in front of the game day set. They were on the air at some point. My grandma had it recorded. It was a scene. Does anyone else remember this? I also recall the other part being taken downtown. That was the last time the goalposts came down in Lincoln.

Pretty sure

Miami vs. Fla St.

UGA vs. Florida are that week...

ESPN likes to do an "odd game" each year where they go to a military academy or a small school if there aren't any games on the national stage.

It's too bad that UCLA vs Nebraska isn't slated for a later time. I was really hoping that Nebraska would be host to College Game Day this week. I wonder what it will take for College Game Day to be at a Nebraska game? I have a feeling if when Nebraska plays at Michigan, if both are undefeated for the game, ESPN will be there for that one.
Hopefully, when Fox Sports 1 gets in stride, their College Football show will go to the locations neglected by ESPN, and all this teeth gnashing over GameDay will be rendered moot.

we may still be toiling around #20 or so due to our craptacular schedule, which makes this a good, but not great Top 25 matchup...and possibly not good enough to warrant GameDay blessing us with their presence.
Not likely. After 5 more weeks plenty of other teams ahead of us will have lost and we'll be top 14 or so. Maybe higher.

Accont, I think you are looking through graying glasses here. Game Day would be great for this program, draws a lot of attention to the program the week of and the day of for sure. Kids, all high school football kids not playing that day are glued to the TV for the big game. As to whether we want them here, makes me little difference, but having them here is a great help for recruiting. And the good thing about it that I have noticed is how positive their feedback is about the program, the facilities and the fans. Those three things be spouted by the most influential college football show does nothing but good, win or lose.

As to Game Day they were at the SC game in LA. Where my wife made this board famous. lol

I know this. I even said it would be a good thing in terms of prestige and relevance. It's just my opinion that i dont want their cockamammy bullsh#t near our stadium. But I fully understand what College Gameday represents and that overall, yes, it would be good for the program. It would symbolize progress of the program. I'd just prefer we do it without Gameday. You know, that old spiteful attitude I guess.

Who cares about Kurt HerbieDerpStreit and his General lee. And don't get me started on Game Day's token..................ahem, Michigan Heisman trophy winner Howard Desmond

I know students and fans think it is fun and all, but I would rather not have the College Game Day clowns desecrate the game day atmosphere in Lincoln.
