Auburn fan here

well said, chizik. on all of it.

also, i hope everyone appreciates the hypocrisy of someone releasing a private conversation wanting to remain anonymous.

Fake punt.........ugh
turning down a 46 yard field goal to go for it on 4th and 17. Even bigger ugh.
We didn't have a FG kicker that could make one that long. Which is wierd to say since we have been spoiled since then by great kickers. Congdon was a very highly rated kicker coming out of high school.....with no leg.
I now this. It was right on the cusp of his limit. 4th and 5? Yeah, go for it. 4th and 17? You try the field goal. Dumb move. Vintage Callahan.

One of the first games I ever went to was against Auburn.... 1981, I think.

It rained. Offense got booed at halftime. They'd lost at home the previous week and had given up a lot of yards doing it. An underperforming senior quarterback got benched and dumped for a raw but highly-prized recruit with a hell of an upside. He did okay, the Huskers won, and the kid never looked back.

Sound familiar?
