Excellent rebuttal from a MOD finally. I can respect this view. But I can also respect the person who opened this thread, Nebraska should be held to a high standard and I feel that it has slipped away. There was a great 30 year run where nebraska seen conference championships several times in a decade, so I can understand where fans get frustrated when we havent won one in a decade and a half. I think when Bo came to nebraska everyone thought that we would be in a better place in year 6, you can't tell me that 6 years ago you thought that we wouldn't see a BCS game or a conference championship at this point in Bo's career. People are just getting tired of waiting. So let them vent. ITS A MESSAGE BOARD, there will be arguments and debates with opposing views, that doesn't make anyone less of a fan. People here really need to stop policing the fans.If you're expecting some kind of remorse for supporting this team, you're in for a long wait.I find the intolerance with the frustration even more annoying, in times like these.God this self-indulgent whining crap is tiring.
Go ahead and be frustrated. But being upset because the team didn't meet some arbitrary benchmark is on you, not the team. We're fans, so we expect that our guys will make the block, make the catch, run real hard and score the TD. We expect we'll make the tackle, break up the pass and get the sack.
But if we do all that all the time, we'll be National Champs every year. And that simply isn't realistic. We're a good team. We're playing .700 ball with a myriad of injuries, guys playing who should never have seen the field except in mop-up duty.
We were never going to win a Championship this season. We didn't have the defense to win our conference. When we lost 2/3 of our starting offense we didn't have the offense, either. So what do you expect? That all the tackles will still be made, all the catches, all the passes completed? That's completely unrealistic, and being distraught that it's not happening doesn't help anyone.
There are things we can critique about the game, or the team, or the coaches. But something like being upset about not winning conference championships... meh. They're pretty damned hard to win, especially when you still haven't even completed one recruiting cycle in your new conference.
We'll get there. But even if we don't, does that mean we throw in the towel on these guys? They haven't met our expectations, so let's pile on the angst?
I mean, if that's what you're calling me being "intolerant," that's what I call being a fan. And I'm not about to apologize for it.
Yeah, out of the 126 teams in college football, only 10 win a conference championship every year.If you're expecting some kind of remorse for supporting this team, you're in for a long wait.I find the intolerance with the frustration even more annoying, in times like these.God this self-indulgent whining crap is tiring.

Do you really think we are as bad now as in the 50s????? Really????anyone ever think that maybe '62 through '02 was the anomoly, or "lightening in a bottle" as they say, and that the 50's and what we're seeing over the past decade is actually the norm for Nebraska football?
I think about this all the time.
I kinda thought they'd be past laying eggs against teams they should beat, four + turnovers a game and getting 40+ hung on them multiple times a year.If you're expecting some kind of remorse for supporting this team, you're in for a long wait.I find the intolerance with the frustration even more annoying, in times like these.God this self-indulgent whining crap is tiring.

Nebraska should be held to a high standard, but there are times where that high standard is ridiculous. It was ridiculous to expect a conference championship from an inexperienced offense and non-athletic defense. It was ridiculous to expect a conference championship from an more experienced offense but a non-athletic defense. It is ridiculous to expect a conference championship from a beat up offense and inexperienced defense.Excellent rebuttal from a MOD finally. I can respect this view. Lol. Its inevitable. I'm Milton Waddams. Through some sort of glitch in payroll, I'm still getting a paycheck.I'm pretty sure you've been banned for the last few years. It just takes a while for the paperwork to go through.I just got banned.
This year, I did not expect a conference championship. But there have been times where we should have won it, like last year. Also, the same mental breakdowns every single year is cause for concern. The biggest thing that has plagued Bo Pelini since he's been here is that we've never had both a experienced and athletic offense and defense. But it looks like we could have that in the coming years. It will happen.
I've been happy with what's happened the last few weeks after the Minnesota game. Our defense has stepped to the front and is doing its best to help an injured offense.

Just because you write a paragraph doesn't mean you're right. it's not that big of a deal, but the fan class-ism gets super old. we lost, let people be upset about it. we haven't won a conference title in 14 years, after chasing national titles for decades. i choose to let the fans who still remember our true identity communicate their thoughts. just because you have grown to accept our "less than" role in college football doesn't mean that others have to, or even should. And when it comes off as a preachy vibe is even more annoying. And FYI, I said we'd lose at least four this season... so you can save that "we weren't supposed to win a championship this year" stuff. Yeah there are injuries, but that doesn't hide the much larger issue of our identity in college football.... it's merely an excuse (a legit excuse, but still a small part of the machine).. Everyone has injuries. I think you know I don't have anything against you at all... just speaking my mind.If you're expecting some kind of remorse for supporting this team, you're in for a long wait.I find the intolerance with the frustration even more annoying, in times like these.God this self-indulgent whining crap is tiring.

You're not a better fan than me because you b!^@h about the team on a message board. You're not more realistic, you're not more in tune with our "real identity" than me.
