Wow, Iowa freaking State can actually get a name hire on their staff and Nebraska basically has to run an internship program new coaches. That's frustrating.

I guess technically, Mangino is a 'name' hire, but in reality, they're getting a washed up head coach that has been unemployed for the last several years before being a position coach at Youngstown State.

Or they're getting a head coach with a BCS victory on his resume, and was toxic after a deadspin report led to his firing at his school that half of the fanbase is still upset over, and he's finally been away long enough for the stink to wear off.

Depends on your view I guess.

Dumbest thing KU did was fire Cheesefries. He's the only reason that program became relevant for a short time. It's a great hire for Iowa State.

He put them in a spot where it was impossible to keep him around

He's a disgusting human being in almost every single way

he did something at KU that was never done before him and hasn't been done since...he won at KU...won an orange bowl...

Yeah, instead of finding some kind of compromise like getting him some anger management help, etc, they caved into public pressure like a bunch of pussies. KU sucks once again, and they fully deserve it. Idiots.

Come on man, he was coaching at Youngstown State this year, and not even in one of the coordinator positions. It was pretty cool to see the world's fattest coach on the sideline when they visited USD though, the entire playing field kind of dipped towards wherever he was standing.

So what happens if Bo hires Marvin Sanders again? He's currently a high school coach. Or any other new coach to learn on the job.

Mangino won an Orange Bowl, this was a good hire by ISU and it's one Bo could have made a few years ago.
