Official HB Good Beer Thread

saved my 8-bit for the superbowl and i could not drink it. it tasted pretty bad and had an awful aftertaste. i always liked it on tap, so i hope this was just an anomaly for whatever reason.

thoughts on 8-bit?

Anheuser Busch to buy Blue Point Brewing

Has anyone tasted Blue Point brews?
This quote from the article game me a good laugh. "Blue Point, which calls itself “Long Island’s oldest and most award-winning brewery,” is known for its creativity and independent spirit."

On the note though I am not thrilled with this trend or smaller breweries being bought by the mega brewers, Boulevard was bought by a monster company earlier this year.

I am going to be at some microbrew pubs in the Quad Cities over the next couple of days. I will report my findings if I am not too drunk to type

I went to Great River Brewing. Had the 483 Pale Ale, Roller Dam Red, and Farmer Brown Ale. All were excellent. Located in downtown Davenport.

Continued on to Rock Island, IL to Blue Cat Brewing. Had the Wigged Pig Wheat and the Abby........Something Belgian style. Not bad for either but definitely not in the same league as Great River.

At least this trip to Iowa had one good thing going for it.

I don't know if it's any good, but the cans are pretty funny

I've had a couple of the Baltikas but I can't remember which ones . . . and it was back when I thought that Guinness was so dark that it was nearly undrinkable.

I still see it in gas stations around town. In other words, I'm no help at all.

Bought some of this because my girlfriend loves coffee-flavored beers. It's decent.

We also used it to make a booze float:

Jim Beam

Banana ice cream

Chocolate frosting

Blend it smooth. Pour into glasses. Pour in beer to float it. Pretty tasty on Sunday afternoon
