MANHATTAN, Kan. -- X-rays on Texas quarterback Colt McCoy's injured right shoulder came back negative Saturday.

McCoy was hurt on a touchdown carry in the first quarter of the Longhorns' 45-42 loss to Kansas State on Saturday night.

"After the injury, Colt experienced shoulder weakness and neck pain," trainer Kenny Boyd said. "When evaluating injuries, we look for return of normal strength and a reduction of pain before putting a player back into the game. Colt wasn't released to play because his symptoms, including strength, did not improve."

The Longhorns will evaluate the redshirt freshman's progress this week as he recovers from what appears to have been a stinger.

"I'm really disappointed I wasn't able to be in there helping my teammates, but I'm going to be fine," McCoy said in a statement released by the team. "We have a great staff of trainers and doctors, and I've already started working with them to get my injury taken care of. The off-week couldn't come at a better time. I'll do everything it takes to get back."

Texas coach Mack Brown declined further comment on McCoy's status for the regular-season finale against Texas A&M on Nov. 24.

McCoy, who went up the middle from a yard out on fourth-and-goal to put Texas up 7-0, was buried under a pile of defenders on the play.

He was holding his right shoulder after the play and he later left the sideline.

McCoy, whose 27 touchdown passes this year are a school record and two shy of the NCAA freshman record, was replaced by freshman Jevan Snead.

Senior offensive guard Justin Blalock injured his left knee during the game and will also be evaluated during Texas' bye week

Rumor has it he received a big time stinger from that hit. Some folks on a UT board were speculating he broke his collar bone but there were apparently a couple of docs that said the fact he didn't come out with a sling on his arm and he was throwing the ball was good indication he didn't break his collar bone. I'm guessing he'll be ready to play for the Aggie game.

Well that's good news for Texas...............It's a shame they had to lose to KSUcks because now we'll have to hear the KSUcks fans for another year running their mouths, but were in the Big XII game and not them so that rocks!!!

Dude... J Freeman this J Freeman that. Makes me SICK!

Worst part is that he is really pretty damned good.

It's funny. I no longer dislike burnt orange, but I just don't care for purple. That sucks that UT lost lost to them. I think Prince, as good of a coach as he may be, we will love to hate for a long time.

I know. KSUck fans acting like he's the potential best quarterback in Big 12 history. Hopefully we'll punish him when he comes to Lincoln next year.
