How high can we go in the polls????

Close win ove CU - move up 1 or stay teh same. Big Win - move up 3.

Win CCG - move up another 5 or 6

Win CCG convincingly - move up 8-9

Lose CCG - move back down 3-5

Win BCS bowl - Move up another 3-5.

A top 10 finish is possible, but improbable. More like 11-15.

I don't think we'll have a huge victory over Colorado. If we go up two or three scores Callahan will start rotating in the seniors.

 
If we can win out including the Bowl game........I think we finish in the Top 15. Which is a great ending to a good season. It will give us major momentum going into next year......... :woo

I'd be surprised to see Nebraska in the top 10. If we win out I think we would deserve to be ranked in the top 15 but that may not happen either. Beating Colorado and then Texas or Oklahoma should be enough to get us into the top 20, but it looks like we'll be facing Boise St. in a BCS game. Frankly, I think there are a dozen better options than Boise St. but that's just me. At any rate, I don't see the pollsters awarding us much for beating another team ranked somewhere between 15 and 20. Meanwhile you'll have all the media darlings that will probably lose but not drop (USC, Notre Dame, Cal, Tennessee etc.)

Huskers will move in to top 20 during this bye week. There are 3 games this weekend that the loser will probably drop below us.

 
I really could care less about the final ranking.

We need quality wins over Colorado, CCG opponent and the Bowl game.

These will all be on National Television. Exposure for recruiting is all that is important. Kids knowing they will have the opportunity to showcase their skills on TV.

I do not think wins over Colorado, Texas or Boise State would have much affect on our over all ranking. None really have star power at this time. We win all three puts us at about 11-12. I do not think those would really be considered quality wins by the pollsters. I can not see them moving us into the top ten for them. But who really cares. We win the games the recruits will come.

skersfan, while I generally agree, I think there is one reason that obtaining the highest ranking possible at the end of the season is important - it has a direct corrolation to where we will be ranked at the beginning of next season. And that could be important when it comes to BCS rankings.

Take Auburn a few years ago. They started out unranked, and had to claw their way up the standings all season. As a result, they were third in the rankings when the BCS ended and the bowl teams were picked.

While that's changed somewhat, remember that the BCS stadings are based on voters' polls for two-thirds of the calculations. That means that the higher we finish this year, the higher we begin next year, the the less "distance" we have to "close" to be highly ranked in the BCS standings next year.

 
Texas (if we play them) losing to KSU hurts as far as a quality win. Granted a win is a win, but it would of been better if they only had one loss and we stopped them from getting to the National Championship game!!!
