Replacement windows?

So many windows to choose from......I would like good solid windows that are gonna last, but don't want to spend Pella money.

How much should a window cost to install?

 
Don't get Jeldwen's, they friggin suck at customer service. Right now my boys's windows are leaking so much air in our 3 year old house it's not even funny. They have ice that forms on the INSIDE of their windows and one of the windows was leaking so bad during the polar vortex we had to tape a rolled up towel up against one side of it to stop the air. Also had some of the woodwork on one of the windows bubble up from condensation that was being created from this mess. Have Jeldwen coming out Tuesday, they better address it or I'm gonna flip out!

 
Anderson makes a good window. I don't know how much replacements cost. I am a little biased since I sell them the majority of their fasteners for building their product.

I'm having them come out early this week. it's a window I had my eye on. Thanks for the feedback.

Are you wanting to do a complete tear out of the existing windows and replace with wood frame double insulated? If not a sash replacement using the existing frames will be a lot cheaper and a reasonable substitution. I've used the Marvin brand for wood sashes and an Anderson vinyl line called "Silver" that also works well. I can install about 3 a day which comes out to about $80/window labor.

 
In my construction experience Pella was the most highly regarded brand with Andersen a close second. I don't know if that is still the prevailing opinion.

Most everything else was regarded as a couple tiers lower in quality.

What do you have now? Are they old original single panes? If so, rebuilding them with new parts is a reasonable option. If you're installing new it will vary quite a bit based on size, interior and exterior trim, insulation situation, etc.

I'm looking for vinyl mostly double hung but a few sliding windows. . I am looking to replace existing windows that were put in 15 years ago when the house was built. They are wood with some getting fairly rotted.

Marvin is very well reviewed on consumer reports. Anderson is the window I have seen the most especially growing up in NJ where it seemed that's all was ever put in.

I'm am loooking for a good quality installation with wood replaced, replace insulation, etc.

The windows are the same ones that the builders put in when the house was built in 1996
