CBS Sports: Breaking Down the Big Ten Schedules

Well Fresno isn't exactly an FCS school either

And I don't think there is a single Husker fan in the world worried about McNeese State
Yes but we are doing a pretty admirable job of framing Fresno as something it shouldn't be....a threat.

That's the thing about college football though. You should see each opponent as a threat no matter how terrible they seem. You can't sleep on anyone. I understand as a fan we don't have to worry about that but a coach should not have that same mindset.

Fresno St. is a good mid major program like S. Miss or a lot of the MAC schools. They have really good years than rebuild. This would be a rebuild year. But, they will still be a decent team most likely. I can see a 7-5 year. They may start out 1-3.

I guess where I am at on this is, would Bama, Florida State, Oregon, Ohio State fans be concerned over Fresno State? Yes they would respect them, but would they consider it seriously as a possible loss. That is where the difference is with Nebraska. We are no longer confident in our team. We hope, we drink the koolaid, but would we bet the house on the outcome of the game. Years past this game would not even be considered a game. Because of the last 6 years and maybe before, we say things like parity, college football has changed and other clique comments.

Could Fresno State beat Nebraska, sure as hell. But should they beat Nebraska, under any circumstance is the question. That is the difference between today and the old days I guess. Lack of confidence, unsure what team will show up. One focused and ready, or one that thinks they have already won the game. Hard for any of us to say, if anything is consistent our inconsistency of play leads the way.

Who is "we" that is not confident in the team? Is anyone expecting a loss to Fresno? I think they'll play NU tough - that's been their hallmark for years - but I'd be surprised if Fresno won. In other words, I respect them but do not seriously consider it as a possible loss.

I don't know how they will be this year (Fresno State) but in 2008-2009 they were in the games even went in overtime with Wisconsin and last years Fresno State Team demolished that Wyoming team we played earlier in the year.

I think we will have a better point of view after their first game against So Cal. Also, I think they were in the game against #4 Oregon a few years back. While I won't say I am worried about them, I will say if we go in there and give the ball up to them 1/2 dozen times, we will be in a dog fight.

Actually I could see them beating USC or at least almost winning that game. They played USC in their bowl last year and got demolished. I could see USC taking them a bit lightly and see Fresno wanting a little pay back.

You can dismiss them but Fresno has a track record of beating BCS teams, and flying there for a late night kick off just makes things harder. Interesting sidenote I did not know, Fresno State beat 2001 Colorado who destroyed us, along with Wisconsin and Oregon State that same season.

They may, but again, this is not one if those iterations of a Fresno st team. They're replacing their nfl level QB, and got exposed towards the end of their season.

It may be tough, but a team that wants to be respected and taken seriously in the annals of Nebraska football fly to Fresno, no matter what their tender circadian rhythms say them, and handle a middle of the road Mountain West team.
