The Dude
Heisman Trophy Winner
That would be a good question to ask him. Not sure he would just throw out everybody's names all willy-nilly, though. It's a shame a lot of former players still don't really feel welcome.
Who?

Tommie's there like every other week during the season (he does the Friday things), so not sure how he doesn't feel welcome. Damon talks to Bo like weekly. Ralph I'll give you, and Jason complained about everything not being like the 90's, even Tom Osborne. It's a shame a lot of former players still don't really feel welcome.
Who?
I'm guessing Tommie Frazier, Damon Benning, Ralph Brown, and Jason Peter.
Forced Frank to take the job? You clearly don't know anything about this if you say that. TO was supposed to give up the reigns in 96 but asked Frank for one more year because that's what he promised him. What you are not taking into account is that Bill took over a team that lost it's work ethic and identity under Frank. People seem to forget that the blowouts that ended the 2001 season and continued throughout the 2002 season in which the only reason that NU made a bow game was because we played a FCS team. 2003 was just an incredibly easy schedule in which our offensive numbers were worse than they were in 2002. But is that really a surprise when Barney Cotton is the OC? Bill was forced to sign a ton of JUCO's just to try to field an Division 1 caliber team. So he didn't have much talent to work with, but with that being said, even though the 2007 schedule was one of the toughest in school history with 10 bowl teams on it, there is no excuse for a 5-7 record in your 4th season and he was rightfully fired.
The problem is that the same man who forced Frank into a position that he wasn't ready to fill did it again by hiring another inexperienced guy as our head coach. Bo did a wonderful job of getting the most out of players that were underachieving under Bill. The problem was he sucked just as bad as Frank did at recruiting. And just like Frank, when their predecessors players graduated or went to the NFL, they didn't recruit well enough to keep the talent level the same. Now with the hiring of the guy from Air Force, it seems for the first time since he has been here that Bo finally realizes how important recruiting is. And I hope that this leads to Bo breaking through his 9-10 win glass ceiling. My only hope is that IF we have to fire Bo, that Tom has no input in the hiring of the next guy. After Frank's failure and Bo's(if it were to happen) should disqualify him from any future HC hires.
Because Tommie tweeted some mean things last year. Then Bo said some mean things about him in a presser. And so everyone assumes they hate each other. And I could care less what Tommie thinks anyway. Great football player. And..................that's about it.Tommie's there like every other week during the season (he does the Friday things), so not sure how he doesn't feel welcome. Damon talks to Bo like weekly. Ralph I'll give you, and Jason complained about everything not being like the 90's, even Tom Osborne. It's a shame a lot of former players still don't really feel welcome.

Like I said, we do not need a single one of them around. We have a coaching staff to teach the kids, and my guess that this staff, is in far better tune with today's athletes than Tommie ever was.
He could not coach a team, why should this staff listen to him now.
He represents the past, quit living in the past. It takes other things to be successful now days. I remember a soft porn movie, and one of the lines was I don't F fossils for free. These kids consider Suh nearing fossil age, most likely consider Tommie a grandfather image.
Some on here claim to deal with the younger generation on a daily basis. If you do, you know that they do not think the same, have very little respect for authority, and normally do as they please. The schools have no control over them, the parents can not correct them. You swat your kid on the but in WalMart, you are met by the cops at the door as you leave. Things are different.
Very well said. +1I know what you are saying Polo, but just help. Talking old players here. If you can't do it positively, the help is not needed. I agree the coaching staff's have not done their jobs either, but it is their job. Past players love the program I am sure.
I deal with young kids, some are great no question. I spent a lot of time dealing with the exact same age group, and it took the Marine Corps a lot of money to develop the esprit de corps. Some were destined to be a Marine, others possibly forced into and others that grew into what we needed and wanted. But most left the Marine Corps due to their disrespect for what they considered lifers. The old players that tried to put, when "I was a young Marine" crap down their throats. Steps, requirements, guidance that they felt was not fair or correct. My guess is that the two are very similar.
Bo has actually used the Marine Corps/Navy way to teach his ideas, many universities do with SEAL/RECON training.
I spent a lot of time, growing through the age, being the one step beyond and then the change from being a part of, to those in charge. I think the Marine Corps/military path, truly is what Bo is teaching. He reminds me of a lot of Marines I worked with. Some good points, some not so good.
His job is tough, these kids are entitled, we as fans have made them that way, their parents and coaches before that.
I totally agree that past players should be able to play a part, should be welcome. I think they are, but as some on here feel, Bo is not warm and cuddly, that may be the reason some do not feel welcome. Bo to the outside does not instill warmth, friendliness. But Bo is Bo, not a bad guy, doing the best he can I think. Is it good enough, right this minute no. Will it get there this year, you and I and everyone on this board sure hope so I am sure of that. Time will tell, the clock is running. But the past players time has ran out, if these kids want those like rewards, they will have to figure out how to do it. Telling them how most likely won't do it.
Yes, but no one welcomed him when he came in the stadium. Obviously we need to hire a specialist to sort this out:Was Ralph at practice yesterday?
Ralph D. Brown II @RalphDBrown now
This Huskers defense not only has talent, they have some nasty guys too. That's what I'm liking.
I disagree that the number one reason Callahan was let go was continued defensive meltdowns.but the number one reason was the continued defensive meltdowns
isn't that what he said?Disagree this is the number one reason.but the number one reason was the continued defensive meltdowns
