***Official 2014 NFL Discussion Thread***

I would LOVE to see Philly go back to the Kelly green uniforms. I've always liked them with the silver wings.

As for Tampa Bay, wow. Way to ruin one of my favorite uniforms in all of sports. So disappointed.

Behold The Horrifying Future Of NFL In-Game Advertising

Don't worry, this isn't going to be a regular thing just yet. The 49ers cut a big sponsorship deal with Toyota, and part of that means overlaying the red zone graphic on the local KPIX broadcast of preseason games. It's not a national deal, so you won't be seeing it during the regular season when the networks do the games. The only reason we saw it last night was because the NFL Network, broadcasting nationally, was streaming the KPIX video feed dubbed over with its own announcers.

Garoppolo has been extremely sharp and unfazed for a rookie. I'm really excited about this dude. Mallett also was extremely decisive on a 6-yard scramble TD. What a nice backup situation the Patriots have.

On a side note, they're calling various penalties on defensive backs every other play. It's kinda funny.

Bears pick up Santonio Holmes.

I like this pick up. Defense is where they desperately need to improve, more precisely run defense but their entire D line is revamped and should be better this season which is huge. They picked up Jared Allen who will help put pressure on opposing QB's and I really like the addition of Lamarr Houston. Stephen Paea is apparently stronger after a lot of off season work so he has the potential to have a break out year in 2014. The Bears linebackers who were often in the wrong place and out of their gaps last year playing a role in the Bears having the worst run defense in the league should be better off with DJ Williams back and healthy playing along side (Lance) Briggs. The Bears should be better this year. How much better? That all depends on the defense #1 specifically run D and having a healthy Cutler who needs to improve on his decision making this year. I think he'll be more comfortable in year two of Trestman's offense.
