Would you take a new job for lesser pay?

I did this 7 years ago. Took a pretty substantial hit. And then got my pay reduced further due to the recession. Then ended up being part of a group that bought out the owner. So I am doing much better now. But I was sweating for a year or so.

I am sure it's a crapshoot, though.

 
Sounds promising. As long as the boss in your new job lives up to his end of the bargain. That doesn't always happen. As I've discovered the hard way.

I would consider it if I could make the pay up fairly quickly. I took a 22k paycut before I had kids to work where I'm working now. I've since made that up, but it took 6 years to do so. I couldn't do that now with two kids, no way.

 
I would if I could eliminate some personal financial dead weight.

But my wife won't divorce me.

 
I just found out today that in a month my job is being eliminated. I guess the good news with that is that I will be reassigned to another department. It's nice to know that I will have the security blanket of continued employment rather than an impending job loss. That being said, I'm not too fired up with the tasks/responsibilities of new position.

 
I have a different situation. I was laid off in June due to outsourcing my job. I think I'm about to lock down a job working from home making about 5k more than I was making before I was laid off.

I'll take it.

 
I was considering this yesterday when I saw a job open up where I use to work. Financially and career wise its not a good move, but it fits more in line with what I enjoy.

 
if you can afford it and it means a better quality of life for you and your family, i would.

it is not what you make, but what you spend.

 
I am hoping to make that kind of move in the somewhat near future. Pay cut now, for what should be more in the future, plus right now I wouldn't p*** on my company's management right now if they were on fire.

 
In order to make ends meet, just stop buying the $100 hookers and go for the $10 ones. That's a big savings if you use them all the time.

How can we find 10 dollar hookers? I might consider that, if it is possible. Sounds cheaper than marriage or dates.

No. If there is a higher ceiling, make them prove it with a pay raise immediately. If they won't, the ceiling is lower.
