Vikings message board shuts down, disgusted by both team and fans

VikingsMessageBoard.com, a longtime board devoted to discussion of the Minnesota Vikings, has shut down forever because of its owners' disgust with the burgeoning Adrian Peterson scandal. And oh, are there plenty of people to be disgusted at. Sure, there's Peterson himself, indicted on charges of child abuse. But the proprietors of the message board also offered the following note, via SB Nation:

Vikings Message Board has been shut down permanently. It will not return. There are two primary reasons.

1. The Vikings' cowardly decision to reinstate a child abuser and think that an apology will make this blow over.

2. We will not give a voice to thugs who think child abuse is "cultural" ...

I guess a bunch of posters on VikingsMessageBoard feel it's no big deal. Just a cultural thing.

Radisson Hotels suspended their sponsorship of the Vikings as well. And the governor of my wonderful state called out the owners as well. I don't think it will be much longer before the pressure makes them rethink their position.

Also, what the Wilfs failed to take into account is that the naming rights to the new stadium haven't been finalized yet. I'm wondering how many corporations quietly removed their name from consideration yesterday.

 
with the way scandals have been going, the nfl almost needs to take a guilty until proven innocent type of approach. and ap obviously admitted to the conduct. they reinstated him way too soon.

 
Ban him and Rice for life. Yes, it's extreme, but the NFL needs to implement a strict no-tolerance policy on evil shenanigans. If they're willing to make extreme changes to reduce the violence on the field, there's no excuse to be lenient about violence off the field.

playing in the nfl is a privilege. i would not lose sleep over this. i do believe in redemption. but i think the vikings blew it because they should have developed some sort of rehabilitating plan to work him back into the fold. anger management classes, parenting classes, community service, docked payed to be given to charities, etc. that way, some good comes of it.

Two +1's. Minnesota saw a 1-15 season staring them down if they benched ap for the year. They chose wins over a child. But, if more sponsors pull out the vikes won't have a choice besides deciding how the egg on their face is served

This is incorrect and unintelligent. Vikings without AP still win at least 5-6 games. With AP they are closer to 8 games.

As a Vikings fan, i can tell you that a good chunk of Viking fans want nothing to do with AP. I am not one of the, I refuse to give an opinion on AP being cut/banned/suspended until the court proceedings have completed. At that point, do what needs to be done.

AP crossed the line.. get him help.. Lets not focus on his NFL career.. lets focus on getting him and his family help.. once that gets worked out, we can discuss him playing again.

The Vikings and the NFL can make decisions without things playing out in court, and you are also able to form an opinion based on the available evidence. AP admitted to beating his child with a switch and leaving injuries. He felt that this was an okay thing to do even though he had previously been investigated for child abuse before, and another child had already died as a result of child abuse. The NFL, the Vikings, sponsors, and fans can and should react harshly to this.

Edit: AP is barred from all team activities until further notice. Good.

Exactly what Ulty said. AP ackowledged overstepping the line of punishment. This man is a sadistic P.O.S. and regardless of what any court says, he is an abuser of children and the NFL, the Vikings and any other NFL team should distance themselves as far away as possible from him.

And I would like to commend Nike for pulling all Adrian Petersen gear off of the shelves. They may have a heart after all.

This is going to be a Texas court case, right? I doubt anything comes from it in the courts.

Well it was a Texas Grand Jury that chose to indict. So I guess there's that
