Beck's family being harassed?C

Also, from what Pelini said, it didn't sound like not talking to the media had anything to do with Beck's family. Pelini said something to the effect of "you say something and it gets used against you so you feel burned".
How many coordinators talk to the press anyway? I have to think not very many.

You speak of a lot of things on a hunch, so I will as well with this. I'm bettin Tim's got one foot out the door already.

It's definitely doesn't happen everywhere. Not sure if it's more common that they do or don't but neither seem to be uncommon.

Do we see coordinators doing pressers on the national stage and things like that? No. But I would bet that radio programs and local news outlets are line up after practices just like it is here. I bet Scott Frost and Kirby Smart are speakin to local press in Eugene and Tuscaloosa as well. I could very well be wrong. But just because we dont see it, doesnt mean it's not happenin. I mean, I dont see Beck or Papuchis on BTN or ESPN or Jim Rome or doing pressers. All they do is meet with the dozen or so local media for a few minutes after practice. I just can imagine in any way that this is a Nebraska only thing.

Go back and read your last paragraph, Knapp. There's no other way to read it.

I assure you this is not hyperbole or sh#t-stirring. Just holding you to your own standard, which sometimes changes in the middle of a post.

If we don't know enough to speculate, we probably shouldn't speculate.

Putting "grief" in quotes is catty enough.
Two things. First - "you" posts, where you're talking about the other member, go in the Shed. This analysis of other board members stops now. I don't care about this personal pissing match you seem to be interested in, but it has no place in this forum. No other warnings will be given.

Second, the word "grief" is in quotes because it's a quote, no other reason. That was the only word used to describe the thing that is not good, therefore I'm quoting it. Until we know more, that's the word we have to go on.

Expecting Beck to talk to the press as much/more often than an unpaid college student is not asking too much, nor is it inferring any of the other things that have been inferred in response to my post.

No one is saying that, but if Beck didn't think that was a possibility when things like that happen to small town high school coaches, he's begging a little.

And again, if it's a problem, announcing it isn't the best way for it to go away, talking to the police and saying nothing is.
So...in other words, suck it up and stop being such a pu&&y. I guess his wife and kids are being pussies too.

No. Not in other words. Use his exact words and stop straw-manning. Neither polo nor I have said any such thing and this continual insistence we have is not conducive to a discussion.

Sorry zoogies, had to get couple hours sleep. Here's the article Sipple wrote they day before Beck spoke.

Thanks! I guess I had it wrong, it was Beck's choice and Papuchis did speak to the media in the meantime.

That said, I have to take any narrative or op-ed from Sipple with a huge grain of salt.

Is most of this based on Fiala's comment? Because, while I like him, I wouldn't consider him the most knowledgeable source. Nor the most eloquent speaker.
This, too, makes me think it's much hubub over nothing.

Good Lord.

If by "personal pissing match" you mean pointing out a pretty glaring hypocrisy that's perfectly germane to the thread, I plead guilty.

By declaring it a "personal pissing match" and calling me out as "you," you're doing the very thing you ask us not to do. Except you include a warning and some prickly moderator posturing. It's thin-skinned and patronizing. I wish you wouldn't do it. I'm using "you" because it seems the correct pronoun here. The fact is I agree with both you, Knapp, and Polo, far more often than I don't, but the direction this discussion just went was almost comically hypocritical and that was worth pointing out. I went back and read the exact words. There's no straw in that man.

I also don't think it's fair to say that a kid getting taunted at school for her dad's failure is the same as being teased about her hair. That since we were all teased for something, the Beck's don't have anything to complain about. But I guess since we don't know the facts, we should stop speculating. And that would mean everyone, right?

So.......lock the thread?

I'm pretty sure it's a criminal offense....terroristic threats or something.
That's assuming threats were made. We don't know jack. Could have just been somebody telling his kid his dad was an idiot and should get caned.
I'm trying not to be too judgemental knowing next to nothing, but Beck's attitude with the media and fans is growing tiresome.
I hear ya...don't know what's being said either...but if someone is sending threats to a strangers house or phone then that is terroristic threats. I don't care what kind of true fan they think they are or how popular and knowledgeable they think they are about Husker sports, but they're not Husker fans.
