11 Wins

Call me crazy, but for those saying if NU was headed toward 7-5 yet was 'competitive' in all games the tone would be different and Bo's seat wouldn't be as hot..........well, I just don't believe that. But yea - I'm crazy like that.

It might be a slightly different group yelling loudly, but the volume would be just as loud.

I think it will be telling more if the PLAYERS play hard for their coach. Theres no doubt they know his job status is up in the air.

If THEY love Bo and THEY want to play for him and win 3 straight, I'll be happy if he stays.

We as fans have the privilege of rooting or not. The players wil determine how the games end up. If they back their coach and come out swinging to "save his job" it will mean a lot more, at least right now, in determining his job at the END of the season.

If they show indifference and lay eggs, that will be equally as telling.

If Bo finds a way to get this team to 11 wins, are the fans happy?

Tons of great answers to this in the thread. The answer has to be "no." It has been a crap season about any way you look at it. Garbage on the O Line, ruining Ameer's chances at a Heisman run. Garbage at QB despite a year of starting experience. Garbage on defense despite a "defensive guru" at Head Coach and some pretty good (and one potentially great) player. Garbage wins, including a stinker against McNeese State and some hum-drum victories against crap conference opponents. Perhaps the worst home schedule in decades.

There isn't a lot to be happy about. Mostly I feel wretched for Ameer. He deserved better.
Thats just the thing... Would Marshall be happy with 11-2? Not if they have a cake schedule.

We have had two tough tests this year. Failed both.

That being said.. I can handle losses. Every team losses... only 2 teams in CFB havent lost this year.

But that is where the "No" you answered for being happy with 11-2 comes in....

Its how we lost. The top 15 teams dont give up records and get embarrassed... That doesn't happen. That Wisconsin game showed that we arent even close to them.

and it happens over and over again.

I am not happy with walking in to an office building in Gopher country here in Minneapolis and having to try and defend my team.

For god sake gopher fans are running their mouths talking trash about how they might run for 300 this weekend...

I can handle a loss. I cant handle being embarrassed to wear Nebraska clothes around.

At some point intime the proverbial wheels are gonna fall off with this staff. Personally i thought it did saturday. At some point this talented younggroup of players will see past all the "love bo" and "runnin through a wall" stuff and realize this staff is not capable of putting them in the best postion they can be to be a great football team. Its what happened to callahan. That team phoned it in from an effort and desire standpoint. Its my opinion but to me thats what happened saturday. You can only blame missed assignments and lack of execution so many times before you have either change whats being taught or whos teaching. Im just not seeing a complete buy in on either side of the ball. I dont really see a team believing in what theyre doing.

I think, should the Huskers finish 11-2 and for all intents and purposes inside the Top 15, that Bo will be kept on, but we'll be seeing a new OC and DC next season. I think 8-5 or 9-4 gets him fired. It's 10-3 that's the interesting, and right now probably most likely scenario.

Gentlemen, this is purgatory.

I think I would be extremely satisfied with 11-2, coupled with some staff shake-ups. Beck and Papuchis replaced by guys who have experience doing the job they've been hired to do with some success.

I am still somewhat shocked that Iowa last year, who was not very good, wasn't the moment all the wheels came off and triggered the change. It's all so strange how that came and went and now, with good reason, the tone is all right back.

I don't think we'll be ranked in the top 15 if we finish 11-2. Voters haven't shown the willingness, and we haven't given them a reason, to rank Nebraska very highly.

11-2 seems pretty unlikely at this point, though. Even if we beat Minny & Iowa, we'd be in a mid-tier bowl against a team somewhere between Michigan State and Wisconsin, and there's not much reason to believe we'd beat them.

Probably purgatory regardless...unless there are 2 or more major embarrassments in there the rest of the way. As I just stated to Count.....if it didn't happen after Iowa last year, it isn't happening this year. And after holding out one last hope that Bo might come to the presser yesterday with some actual reflection.....well, that came and went and he's obviously not going to cave to change. I think that's clear.

As so many have said...years of stubbornness are going to be his demise. It's too bad! He wouldn't be so grumpy if he had some help and these wild swings didn't happen!!!!

Yeah. Not only the loss at home, in the bumbling fashion in which we lost, but the firestorm of a presser afterwards.

"You want to fire me? Then fire me." People talk about Bo's supporters in the Admin, but the only reason he's still here after Iowa is that the guy(s) they wanted weren't willing to come here. There's a reason Eichorst didn't speak to the press and didn't release a statement the day of the Iowa game last year. That missive he released, supporting Pelini, could have been emailed to the press any time Friday afternoon/evening. It's not like it took long to write.

If you mean the AP/Coaches poll we would be by default most likely. We're ranked 19/21 right now at 8-2. If we were to win 3 straight, even against mediocre opposition we'd likely finish in the top 15. Whether we'd be one of the best 15 teams in the nation is a whole other deal.

I agree about finishing 11-2. Seems unlikely, this team has been scuffling even in their wins.

Sure be great to win 11 but I just don't see it happening. I know what I saw this past weekend and against Michigan State.

Before counting 11 wins, let's not overlook the fact that Minnesota controls their own destiny. This game is more important to them.
