Good news. I'll rest easy knowing this is the players fault and an anomaly. Bo just needs time to get his guys in here.

It's sad to say, but it is the scheme. Doesn't mean the players didn't err. Of course they did. But as C N said, there is a huge issue if one guy getting hooked leads to a 60-yard TD run on a basic running play.
The scheme came from the NFL and works with a bunch of disciplined NFL players against certain schemes. It doesn't work as a one-size-fits-all scheme.

The first picture is visually clear, just as it was watching the game.
I count 7 Wisconsin Helmets vs 6 Huskers. Line of Scrimmage Advantage: Wisconsin (math plus Size & Strength). This is not a player decision nor their fault.
Play call is a run between the tackles. You have another Wisconsin player with blocking responsibility to take out the Huskers safety (Gerry). But he takes out Gerry and the cornerback by the time Mel Gordon is making a cut to run outside. (It's not like they are Linebackers anyway)
Big lineman, extra blockers (TEs/FBs/WR) matching up against a soft defensive front 6-7.
An all-American RB, and rotating QBs who cannot throw (proven 11 pass attempts) against the Huskers 2 deep safeties.
That defensive strategy is what gave up 400 to Gordon. Credit to Gary Anderson for being vanilla and bringing in extra blocking. Bo blew this.

Benning and that Aaron Semm guy also talked about when Gary Anderson hired Wiscy's DC, what that guys said in a 'pub. He comes from the cover 4, 2 high tree because of his days in the open Pac 10 and his words were to the tune of, in the Big 10, you HAVE to be able to stop the run first. You gotta get safeties down, get out of your comfort zone and get aggresive or you'll get run all over. That's the first and foremost issue.
And this from a guy who's never coached in the Big 10. Casual fans can point out the lack of nuance that we needed to get the job done.

One quick, simple adjustment which wouldnt change too many duties across the board is the play a cover 4 and have both safeties and both corners line up 10 yards from the LOS. The LBs should play in a stack setup 4 to 5 yards from LOS, with the OLBs shaded outside the DEs. In the event of an unbalanced formation, the LBs rotate to an Over or Under alignment, depending on which side is the strong side. If there is no wide recievers on one side, pinch the corner in and move him to only 5 yards off the LOS. This is a tighter formation with 9 and sometimes 10 in the box, close enough to swarm any run game for short gain, but spread enough that if those bigger, slower TEs run pass routes we'll be able to drop into a good zone coverage.

You don't need to be an X and O guy to realize he puts his emphasis on stopping the pass. It's his defensive philosophy and it's considered "backwards" by almost every defensive coach out there, as most philosophies emphasize stopping the run first.
Having this philosophy in the Big Ten is simply imcompetent. Bo's doesn't worry about big picture stuff like that though.

Theres more than one way to fix it, the problem is i dont see the staff trying to implement anything to do it. Its the precise definition of INSANITY!!

Really nothing else to add here. You force a team to beat you using their weaknesses. We didn't even bother. How stubborn can you be. Nine, ten guys in the box if you have to. I realize they could still break one and then there's only one man to beat in the secondary but you have to do something to slow them down...and again...slow down your damn offense! Stop letting them get 4 possessions each quarter!

Wrong...you don't have to pass when you rush for 500 yards. When something is working for the other side they pour it on. The whole thing is broken, not just parts of it.
