Three of AU's starting players suspended

Supposedley they're suspended indefinitely. No word yet on the reasoning behind it though. I was really hoping to get to play them at full strength. :hmmph

According to an Auburn fan on Husker Central, the following players are:

Brad Lester, starting tailback.

Tray Blackmon, starting linebacker.

Kevin Sears, starting linebacker.

Rumor has it:

Blackmon was suspended for "undisclosed reason" and Lester and Sears were declared "academically ineligible".

Another rumor is they were all suspended for violating undisclosed team rules.

Both of these rumors coming from Auburn's Scout.com site.

Boo I want them at full strength, I hope they're just rumors.
No, it's confirmed. It's a done deal. It's being reported on Rivals.com but I don't have a subscription to it to retrieve the article. I'd expect an article about it on ESPN/SI/Fox Sports in the next day.

The bad thing about this for NU is if we beat Auburn, the media is going to downplay this win by saying we beat Auburn who played without 3 of their top starters. If we lose, the media is going to say Auburn beat us without three of their top starters (meaning, we still suck according to them...the media) ;)

Maybe some of our Auburn friends can enlighten us a little more on this whole thing

Since when does Lester start over Irons?...or am I missing something?
I asked that question on aunation.net and the answer I received was Irons and Lester were basically 1a and 1b respectively but Lester is the one who has the ability to "take it to the house" as they put it. I also read Lester has 9TDs to Irons' 4 with Lester gaining fewer yards (something like 500 to Irons' 800?) So it sounds like it's a similar situation with regard to B-Jax and Lucky.

It suxs that we don't get to play them at full strength, but if they broke some rules or were ineligible then they need to be punished. No special treatment for a bowl game (K-State and Ell Roberson).

Blackmon and Lester are good players.

I'm happy about it. A win over Auburn is a win over Auburn. Everybody in the media likes to brag about the depth of the SEC and how good those teams are - losing these three players shouldn't be an excuse.

If it makes us more likely to beat them -good. I want a win.

I disagree..............I want them at full strength so there is no freakin excuse from ESPN!!!!

Many times..Especially for big games, the surrounding players bring it up a notch or two to compensate and as a whole, become a better team..(See '95 huskers w/o Lawrence Phillips).

More than anything, this will affect perception of a Win by us as being a little less impressive.

I don't give a flying you-know-what about ESPN. They won't give us respect regardless, so why bother. Give me a win, and a ton of momentum heading into 2007.
