Tavita Thompson New GA Working with TEs

According to new TE commit Matt Snyder, Oregon State graduate assistant Tavita Thompson will be coming to Nebraska. According to Snyder, Thompson "is coaching the tight ends at Nebraska". It's possible that he's just going to be a GA here as well but that's not the language Snyder used.

Yeah…..another OSU staff member, who had little resources work with…… Hopefully just a GA here…. but if helped seal the deal for Snyder, then I am glad he is somewhat N….. but enough with the Beaver staff please !

Yeah another fan that came here to tell everyone how horrible things are.

I don't think they'll waste a position coach on TE.... Surely the WR Coach can handle that.... Or the Oline coach
I thought the same thing. Technically he said "coaching the tight ends" which wouldn't mean he'd have to be the "TE Coach". Could be WR/TE or something like that.

But I wonder if he isn't going to be a GA here as well.

Let's see how many more agree with my sentiment…. if he keeps bringing his staff…. willing to bet that if people were to answer truthfully, rather than PC / Kool aid, most are thinking that enough former OSU staff have followed, considering that when the hire was made, the board exploded with MR, "who"…..followed with "it is a good hire", especially if he LOADS up with big time assistants...

Maybe you missed all of the rhetoric….. because I don't believe that I am alone in my thinking…..

Didn't mention the word "horrible"…in fact, I said that if helped seal the deal with Snyder, I used the word "glad"……..

Nice try !

He'll probably be a GA here too. Frequently they serve as the TE coach. Don't have room to put a paid TE coach on staff with a ST coach.

OC

DC

OL

RB

WR

DL

LB

DB

ST

It's just as a GA I believe. Only three spots left on the staff. WR DL and RB. You don't want to give up any of those spots for a TE coach. The special teams coach took one spot, not enough spots left

Ill chime in. Diehard fan for 30+ years. A wikipedia hire, with sub par staff and a lot of potential...........I have seen enough with this hire to realize SE isn't serious about making NU a force to be reckoned with.

Where is the proof this staff can develop talent? a .504 career W-L?, the fact players have won individual awards? He is a nice guy. Great. He will have more resources. So what. What has Reilly or his staff done to be automatically declared an upgrade. The fact his staff has experience? Absolutely, but what means this will correlate into wins?

I hope Reilly returns us to the ranks we all desire. It just seems like a "meh" hire to even less excitement with OSU staff members.......I'm done with the kook-aid, win or be gone. Michicken let the college football world know they expect (want) to win now. Not in 2-3 years, but know..........

No splash hire at HC and even less at the staff.........

I will be the first to apologize when we win and win big, but as someone posted earlier about our new OC, his highest rated running game was like 81st IIRC. That won't get it done in the B1G.........From 2005-2010 (Reilly took over play calling in 2011) they had one season where as a team they rushed for more than AA did this year....(barely)

It's not like the PAC 12 has always been this good i.e. USC, UCLA, Arizona, Oregon and Arizona St, so a .504 looks even lower when put into perspective of the PAC 12 historically......

I'm N, but not drinking any kook-aid.

It's not like a GA has to be involved with quarterbacks & wear funky plaid pants on occasional game days. This guy was a lineman and is a GA on offense/TE assignment. He's done it a few years. If it improves our TE play, what's the big up roar?

Can someone start a thread that allows everyone that thinks MR's hiring and staff are awful and we are doomed can chime in? That way in the fall, it can be revisited and they can either say "I told you so" or try to come up with some sort of story about how "anyone could coach Bo's players and the real story will be in 3-4 years".

The WAMBULANCE is getting full.

Sounds good, and i'm contributing the first post, (mods feel free to move), cuz i heard that Riley wants his last shot at winning championships to fail badly so he is going to hire the worst assts he can and will most likely not even fill out his staff, Damn SE!

I agree. Riley has more resources, so use them to hire great assistants, not to pay the relocation costs of OSU coaches.
